It has a V8. How many cylinders were you expecting?

Lovely indeed. I wouldn't be surprised if it went for more than 10.

Opel GT is lovely, there was one parked at my neighbours opposite recently.

If anyone wants one checking out in N.W. Germany then I am happy to have a look, prices are moving rather swiftly and orivately they are selling for 10k+ in OK condition.

If serious have a look on;

Are they all LHD and auto? I know precisely zero about these.
As said, they are all LHD. I didn't find that a problem at all running mine; they are very narrow compared to a modern car!

They use mostly fairly standard Vauxhall/Opel parts below the skin - CIH engines (mainly 1.9, IIRC there was a GT/J 1.6??? as well), mine had Chevette front calipers fitted as the OE had seized, wide availability of parts from America.

There's a major rust trap in the front wheel arches - the front corner of the footwell has a flat top to it... or quite possibly, a big hole from the wheel arch straight into the footwell! Easy to reach and check for though.

The fuel filler is the oh so heavy and lovely Opel blitz in the middle of the tail smile No boot as such, but there is a usable shelf above the tank and a fair bit of room behind the seats...
In fact, I sold mine when my daughter was about to arrive in the world (my wife sold her MX-5 at the same time). I wish now I'd kept it, I could have bolted a tubular-framed car seat down to the floor behind the passenger seat!

The best part of the car (beyond the curves) is the headlights... all the girls love them wink "Wow! James Bond car!"
There's a lovely lass demonstrating them here, skip to 42 seconds in: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LiFFRA4HBcM
Although I can't understand anything she's saying, I'm watching the rest of that video as soon as I finish typing wink

Not a car for the shy as everyone will look and talk, most assume it's a kit and fibreglass. Easy to live with as an everyday car on the whole, very much the Opel version of an MGB GT in my view (we had one of those, too) - a bit less practical, but much rarer in the UK and sexier too wink Looks like prices are gently on the up.

Brilliant stuff.

What a pity that most of the major manufacturers aren't making this sort of stuff anymore. Where is Vauxhall's 2017 equivalent of that?

I suppose the closest Vauxhall has had since would be the VX220. There was an Opel GT again a few years ago but again it was left had drive only frown

Shared its platform with North American GM products (Saturn Sky and Pontiac Solstice). Allegedly it was a sweet-handling little thing but I wouldn't know myself. I really like the Pontiac Solstice though

I make no apologies for going slightly over budget for this one.

Missed this last week.
I still have a lot of Manta love. I had 3 - a B series coupe, a C hatch and eventually my dream car, a GT/E Exclusive saloon...
There's a good thread following on in the Classic Cars and Yesterday's Heroes forum defblade

Brilliant. I've been waiting for a V12 one to come up. Cool as hell

Never seen wood trim in an e31 before: interesting.

Love the colours too, that's going to be £10K+

Fantastic: "The rear seats are equipped with a massage system. The exterior door handles open the doors electrically since the sound of the door being opened mechanically is perceived as being "too obtrusive". The doors do not need to be closed directly, instead the door only needs to contact the latch, causing the door to pull itself completely closed electrically."

I'd love to have that, but am not sure I'd ever love owning it.

No surprise, V12s rarely make it to the UK, but there are always earlier V8s for sale.

I think to get a V12 the surest way would be to get on a waiting list with an importer to get first refusal on one.

Or if you know what you're doing/fancy a gamble on a Japanese auction site, import one yourself
