These E28s are great cars. I had an auto 528 and a manual 535. Both brilliant.

It gets many bonus points for being a rare manual E31, but take a few away for the engine. I'd rather have a manual 4.4 V8: the V12 one worth having is the 850CSi with its 5.6 litre 375 hp engine.

I remember at the time, as a wise and knowledgeable 12 year old, being completely underwhelmed that BMWs new V12 engine managed to make no more power than the Jaguar V12 engine introduced 20 years previously. If I recall correctly it was also less refined than the Jaguar engine.

Even so, it's a lovely looking thing.

Or the 350bhp Alpina B12 5.0, or if you have very deep pockets the 416bhp B12 5.7.

Pushing our budget, but worth it, I think.

£16,989 - Mercedes-Benz S Class 6.0 S65 AMG

Done a few miles, admittedly.

Given the mileage I reckon that should be in thread budget - but major brave pills required and I'd expect to see a FMBSH before I'd even entertain it! That's got to be a posh taxi in a past life?!

Something doesn't add up with the mileage and MOT history either - suggests it was last MOTd in Sept '14 at 205k, so it's either had a haircut and a plate change, or it's a very old advert

Saying "Birmingham, Worcestershire" suggest an attempt at trying to pastoral-ise a site for which the description "back street" is an aspiration - that part of inner-city Birmingham has not been part of Worcestershire since the early 20th century! I agree, twice the real value and even then you'd need to be mad!

I was watching that one before I bought the XJR-S off CdG. I think he's knocked £500 off it. It looks lovely, and although I prefer the low chrome look of the XJR-S the 4 speed gearbox, outboard brakes, and better parts availability of the factory 6 litre does appeal. Interestingly they only make 300bhp odd rather than the 330bhp of the JaguarSport 6.0.

318hp, isn't it, for Euro cars? 302hp for US?

I'd have to check. I think it was 318bhp in the X300 but I've got a feeling it was always a bit less in the XJS? My Jaguar beard has been moulting over the last few years, I'm going to have to put some work into it.

ETA - Just looked it up, 308 bhp and 6.8 to 60 for the 1993 on 6.0 litre with the 4 speed auto. I'd have thought the lower final drive ratio and 4 speed box would have made it quicker to 60 than the XJR-S (6.5 seconds) but seemingly not. I want to have a go of one now.

Ooooo - should it be bought and then driven across a desert, through a jungle or across some tundra?

(Sorry, really can't see its "Interesting-ness" factor - that's probably a bit of a heretical admission?)
