Lovely looking thing. LHD, but reasonably priced (I think!) http://www4.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/201...
This has been lying at the back of a multi car franchise group for quite a while. It is also for sale for a lot more at another garage less than 5 miles down the road.

Not sure what's going on.

Perhaps one for the NI contingent to comment on?

It is a lovely straight car.
Spoke to one of the sales guys just before Christmas and he said it was taken in as part of some deal.
He wasn't confident about ever selling it.
Probably just lie there in the corner unsold he said.

Lots of precision engineering under the skin to get excited about. VTEC lump, aluminium wishbone suspension and 4WS will offset the bland and anonymous looks. And such a rarity in uk spec with those miles. The Great Man, who declared that no other car was as nice to drive, would have approved.
I had one. He was quite quite wrong.http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/2016...

Absurdly noisy at anything over 60mph, and it's all road noise so it isn't even a 'nice' noise. It was so loud that you could open the sunroof at 80mph and it made no appreciable difference to noise levels. I'd stop at a service station get back in, turn the ignition on and deafen myself with the stereo because I'd had it cracked up so loud to overcome the road noise.
Awful seats too, guaranteed backache in two hours.
Engine was interesting, VTEC was great fun. For about 5 minutes... Then the utter weediness of the thing below 5,000rpm got very old very quickly. If you wanted to pull away quickly you had to sit and wait for it to drag up to 5,000, the VTEC kicks in but the gap between 1 & 2 was so large it would drop out of the VTEC rev range. So you wait for it to build up again and then you're off. The next gears were close enough that if you red-lined it, you would drop back into VTEC zone. Basically, in very precise circumstances it was pretty quick, but the reality was you spent your life chasing 5,000 in order to have a brief burst of VTEC. Hopeless for road use.
So it didn't do long distances, didn't do the sports car thing, interior was low rent Civic and the air con was hopeless.
Eventually got out of it for an Audi A3 T-Sport. God, that car was utter utter bliss after the hateful Prelude. Quiet, comfortable, effortless, quicker in the real world and a nice place to be. All the things that a car fundamentally needs to be.

I can recommend. However, be aware of that 4WS and the suspension. Neither are cheap to fix. Sadly, they rot, too. 20 years ago they really were excellent. The later bug eye version may be worth hunting out - I could imagine spending 2k but not 6k.http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/2016...

My neighbour has a Prelude like that on a K or L reg that she's had from new. Always garaged and it looks perfect. She's getting on now - early to mid 80s at a guess.
She also has a 53 plate Mercedes C-class compact thing that's kept in the same garage and has gone rusty. The Prelude is spot on. I don't know which engine it is or anything else about it.
Great anecdote, I know

What a pity, it's a nice-looking old thing. He needs to drop the price. Probably just lie there in the corner unsold he said.
Saying that, has it got a radio? Looks a bit basic spec inside, so probably not what the collectors or enthusiasts go for.

That's been popping up on my radar for a while now must have been one for wellmover a year. There's a lovely green one on carandclassic for £9k. As a side note, what I love about classic Mercedes (currently on Autotrader at the moment) is two early 1970s Benzes one, as above a 250C for £6,950 (or whatever price as the other ad) and the other a 600 Landaulet for £2,500,000. Such a huge price divide.
It is a law of nature, that Setright cannot be considered to be wrong.
Those who make the mistake of believing that he was wrong are simply misguided in their priorities. This piffle about seats, noise and general unsuitability for daily use pale in comparison to the fact that it has 4WS and double wishbones all over the place.
Also, his Prelude was automatic, as manual gearboxes are rough, ungentlemanly and crude.
(tongue in cheek, for the easily offended)
