The S3 is by far the worst of the Alfa Spiders - and you could get a decent S4 for that kind of outlay.
It does put the rubber bumper MGB back into context at least!
A little over, but this is the shape Spider that's best value for £10k.

No. Just no. Wrong hand drive. LPG. Import.

I've been underwhelmed by Alfas on the Barge 1-5 thread, but I like this.

They'd kind of ruined the Spider by the end hadn't they. It's still lovely compared to modern tripe, but compared to the earlier versions it's rather less so.
It did get bloated for sure, but a factory hard top and original RHD is unusual. If it was really offensive in tbe metal you could probably tone down the body kit additions a bit. Such a pity that as models get older they tend to get blinged-up and lose the lines that made them appealing in the first place.

Apart from the AMG and Biturbo badges, what do we think of this?
I could live with wood from an orange tree, but fake badges and Bradford-based seller, plus the use of the word mega and what seems a pretty speculative price tag, means it's not for me.

This month's Classic Cars magazine (I think, chucked it away when I got to Rome this afternoon smile ) covers the Spider very favourably, alongside a number of other £10kish convertibles for summer. Good material for this thread.

The S3 is ugly, has an aftermarket RHD conversion and is also an import!

I'm not saying the S4 is the best you'd get for your £10k-ish - but you would get an S4 Spider, which is a big improvement over the S3. S4s even have half decent rust proofing!

OK, OK. I'd missed it being a RHD conversion. Still, I stand by LPG being about as appealing as herpes.

This looks fun. Probably about as quick as tectonic shift, but longer-lasting.

The cherry on top is the disguised front number plate.

I love it. That would be just the thing for pottering about in. Not so sure about doing a 300 mile jaunt in it, mind.

I'm of split opinion on LPG these days. We run a 3.0 V6 camper van on it - makes it a sensible proposition as a daily driver. Not sure why you'd put it on a 1.6 spider, as they'll do 35mpg anyway. But then LPG is very common and very, very cheap on the continent.

Anyway, for £10k, I'm sure I could find a decent S4 spider with the 2lt VVT engine.

Okay Lovely Thread followers - serious stuff now.

What would you have from the C&C collection above? For the avoidance of doubt you cannot deviate from the C&C list and go your own way with imaginary £10k purchases.

I'd have the TVR.

I just don't like the way the 944 softtop looks - but can see where you are coming from. On the other hand I have always liked the way the 325 softtop looks but not at £10k.

I'm rubbish at classics so never even realised they were a thing. They look like those amphibicars to me (ban me from the classic car thread here!).

Alreay got a 944 and prefer them with a roof, so I'd have the TVR too.

I have a really soft spot for these. It's been over 10 years since I've owned an 'mg' product which was a stunning maestro turbo with 32k miles, even then good ones were basically gone.

This is very tempting, especially as it is local.....
