I'm quite happy that the new Civic Type-R is 5 door only as if there was a 3 door I would have wanted it, but I probably wouldn't have bought it as it would't have ticked quite as many boxes and wouldn't have been quite as brilliant at doing all the things it does.
5 door Hot Hatch : perfect car for 99% of the time IMHO
Aside from other reasons I wouldn't go there (even or maybe because having had an old school one), that's a secondary reason why I wouldn't buy one. However, that's also IMHO.5 door Hot Hatch : perfect car for 99% of the time IMHO
Again IMHO, but better to buy something that serves your modern purpose and something that's 100% than a not quite. However, never quite understood the do it all compromise.
There's a lot going on for something that isn't doing anything different (which used to be the case). It isn't the fastest, in either sense, not the prettiest, probably not the best handling and so on. Which makes me think either buy something else, or some form of family bus for most of the time, plus something naughtier or better for some of the time.
I probably should be in the target market, crappy phrase that it is, but I can't work up any enthusiasm.
I liked what Mazda did with the RX-8 - two long doors that were the 'main ones' and then the little rear suicide doors to give that extra space to get into the back when it was needed. The 70/30 proportional split meant the car retained a true coupe look, with a bit more practicalitythan usual - (although never used one or been in one so can't say if it was good or not)
