What's the best-looking hatchback ever?

One of the best looking hatchbcks of all time IMHO, now over 10 years old and still looks better than any curent offerings
Yup, said that for years now. Fiat nailed this. Shame they mucked up the Evo facelift but it still managed to survive that with most of its dignity intact. Edited by briang9 on Monday 26th September 15:14
Even normal versions look so right.

I'm gonna agree, I know technically the MGB GT is a hatchback, these fiats are probably the best looking traditional hatchback cars considering how well they have aged.Even normal versions look so right.
Bit of a devisive one from me.... But to me it looks ace in both standard spec and hot spec. Was fresh and different in '06 and still doesn't look dated. They messed up to the two following versions though. Last good looking one imho
I present to you, the marmite Civic FN2
I am a little biased though as the Type-R looks a lot like my own (minus the 19" Rage Alloys)
Oh and controversial opinion. The Brera is F**K UGLY! Its fat, bloated and utterly inelegant. Don't like this 3 door sports coupé malarky (Astra GTC, Megane SC, Leon SC, Scirocco, Brera). They just look like fat 3 door hatches.

So glad these three got a mention and the CRX (although I'm not sure it meets the brief). Others I agree with are the Delta, 205, 306, 147 and Grande Punto. with the runner up being:

My own curve ball for the 80s would be the Mk2 Renault 5 which looked pretty good in standard trim and great as the GT Turbo.

Didn't Steve Cropley, of Autocar fame bang on about his love of a Yellow/gold one when they were introduced? Actually, a good design and the tail-lights later became a design cliche. In retrospct, were they decent cars but bought on a budget by non PH types? Drove new Punto recently and it was much better than general pub bore image would suggest ( price taken into consideration.)
Owned a Punto GT for 6 years. Kept the engine standard but did suspension and styling mods to it. Was very reliable and went without a hitch even when giving it a thrashing daily. Great car. Not the fastest but very fun.If we stick to what is commonly understood as a hatchback, then clearly the Lancia Delta Integrale is the best looking ever. Short, squat, fit for purpose. And it has five doors. If it has to have 3 doors, then I'd vote mk 1 Scirocco.
Actually, as to the 3 door or 5 door thing, I think the smaller ones look best with 3, and the larger ones look better with 5, especially the Golfs (why buy the impractical two door version of a practical car?). If you want two doors, buy a coupe, or what is now known as a supermini.

Yeah! To me at least, they just look so well proportioned and look like nothing else really. Also, a quick car in it's day, very practical, reliable and pretty economical. No good for a family I suppose, but i did once cram 4 hungover mates in mine for a 200+ mile journey.
