The general rule seems to be; the more bling and crappy bits they have bunged on the outside, the quicker it ages.

Many of the cars posted were released 10+ years ago so could have been designed up to 15 years ago. They're just ageing as design and tech has moved on, none look particularly older than their age.

Indeed. When the current fad for bolting what appears to be garden centre 'rope lights' to the light clusters or bumpers dies a long overdue death some cars are going to look acutely aged!

I'll start.

I was sitting behind an early L320 Range Rover Sport the other day and it appeared (to my eyes, at least) to have aged really badly. I'm not sure exactly why this is as it looked good when it was launched and many of its contemporaries still look decent enough, but I guess it doesn't help that the current car has massively moved the game on in every area. The facelift version looks better than the early ones, but the particular low point for me was the blinged-up HST model. eek

Agree? Disagree? What else isn't growing old gracefully?

HST:
To be fair, you've chosen the worst colours etc. - I think they still look up-to-date in the right spec.:

Was going to post the XE. The rear looked awful and bland from launch. It's the rear lights I think.
I don't think it's the lights that are the issue as they look good on the F-Type and XF. I think the proportions of the XF just look altogether wrong from the side and rear. It also needs the sport kit and big wheels (much like the XF and many other saloon cars) or it's a bit dull.
Some might think it sacrilegious of me to say so, but I've always thought the XE to look a bit like a late nineties Mazda 626 from the rear.

Pick Ups post 2009 essentially became trendy steads for the style conscious with few of them retaining their working class roots, space and usefulness.
The reason pre 2009 trucks were boxy and featured right angles is because that's been the most practical and usable configuration for the past century.
My thoughts exactly! I love a decent old school pickup.

BMW 8 Series.

Very dated looking IMO. Is a 20 year old design though.

Bingo.

A bit like "oh look how such and such a 50 year old celeb has let themselves go a bit." They got old.

Now they're all scratched and scarred by years of moronic driving, with faded headlights they look ancient. Could easily be mistaken for a late 90's car.
Yes! They felt aincent when I was working in a Nissan dealership 2012-14. Strange really because it was mainly just lights, grille, upholstery, dials and dash tweeks but combined made a much, much fresher looking car. They weren't very desirable on the pitch either.

DRls were introduced in Sweden in the 1970s and in other countries well before 2000.

Proportions are ghastly. I think it's the awful C-window. It reminds me of a Granada.

Ready to be shot down in flames but I think the new Mustang looks horribly dated already and they've only been on the road for a few months here. I've seen a few about and they just don't have that wow factor that they had when we first saw pics.

I would bet that any new car that mixes halogen, xenon and iridescent bulbs together looks dated.

It really annoys me when I see a BMW with xenon dipped beams, led DRL and a iridescent bulb for the indicator. 2£7 do they keep doing it? Every new model ffs then the lci gets Led indactors. Fine 10 years ago but not now. The new x1 has iridescent too.

Jags are just as bad.

Saw a outlander too, xenon dipped with a halogen main, wtf?

same with the last gen e class. The original had all xenon and led, then they face lifted it and fitted led dipped with a halogen main beam and a standard indicator. Why?!
