RE: Bentley Bentayga Diesel - official!
Discussion
Bentley is always going to suffer from being behind Audi in the technology stakes. Audi is VW's experimental brand.
First Sporty 4WD? quattro
First Aluminium car? A2
First? DSG TT
First Glass Cockpit? TT
The most interesting recent Audi technology is their active suspension . This has the ability to produce a fantastic magic-carpet ride and would be perfect for a Bentley but will appear in an Audi first.

I saw one when the model was launched.
It was a dull gold/champagne colour with an older man draping himself over it while another guy took pictures.
I didn't like the look of it then, I still don't like it.
I shall never be in the market for one so I have no fear of them losing sleep over my opinion.
It will sell, and sell well which keeps jobs.
The engine does sound impressive, the power and delivery will make it decent to drive. Hopefully it's reliable long term.

I thought that within VW whichever brand invents something get to use it first before it filters through to the other brands?First Sporty 4WD? quattro

No, that's not how it works, I've just thought of another example: the R8 LMX laser headlights.I suspect Porsche and Lamborghini will have to wait in line for those too.

The German-market Golf R32 was the first VAG production application of DSG, with the TT being the first car to get it outside the German market.

Pretty certain this kind of over and self indulgent, wasteful and inefficient gin palace is the sort of thing that fuels socialism.
Perhaps the owners should actually fuel it on socialists ?Isn't socialism basically "I haven't got a nice shiny thing, so you cant have one either" ?
People will always want more than they need, stifling that doesn't work.
Not sure I would be entirely comfortable in one, well, would be extremely comfortable, but not in that way, it is conspicuous and slightly obnoxious but it is an exception.
It's nothing to do with the fact that it's an expensive, obvious, pointless car - have no problem with that (nor a diesel Bentley SUV).
Problem is that it's a Q7 by Mitsuoka with laughably bad "styling" - has to be the most cynically-conceived car in existence. They know it will sell despite being largely built on the same line out of the same bits as a £40k Q7, and looking like a bad Chinese photoshop.

Did see a Bentayga parked in Alderley Edge yesterday with a sticker on the boot lid. "No tools are left in this vehicle overnight". Sense of humour.
I saw one today.
You know how normal car brands stick a car in the middle of a shopping centre? Well for some reason Bentley has done the same. In the middle of Westfield Shopping centre is a Bentayga with a bit of rope around it.
It is near the designer shops, but still felt a bit of a strange brand exercise, Bentley do has a small shop there already but that doesn't sell cars only branded tat. Strange way to sell a luxury car I thought.
For comparison - Tesla is present in the same centre and has its own actual shop space for the cars to be displayed in.
Looks pretty bland outside by the way, the interior is the usual quilted affair though so nice inside.
