How quickly do you reply to a Text message?

I tend to reply immediately. But then I do to emails as well, otherwise they build up and I have to spend hours going through and replying.
It makes me somewhat painful to deal with, as some people expect to send a text / email and then get a reply sometime, perhaps tomorrow. Where-as if I reply they seem to almost feel compelled to reply as well and it carries on ....

I thought my wife had fallen off her motorbike the other day, I pulled out of a carpark with her following me, got round the next corner and she'd disappeared...turned out she'd stopped as she'd felt her phone buzz in her pocket and had to check because it might be important
I tend to reply based on how important the text looks. If it's someone asking if I fancy a pint I'm usually pretty quick, if its about something further in the future I'm in less of a hurry.

Almost always straight away, unless driving or caught up at work.
My eldest is a nightmare, she only seems to answer quickly if it is to her benefit; if I text her "hi how are you and the family?" I may get a response at some point during the day or the next, I can guarantee that if I texted her "I've found £50 down the sofa is it yours?" she would respond instantly, however she always expects a reply instantly if she texts me, I generally reply in a blunt fashion as it annoys her. When she is after something she always starts "Hi how are you....." when I read the first line I know instantly that she is either after money or a favour, if that happens I leave it a while before responding, as she does to me.
The wifes brother will only text and respond if it beneficial for him to do so, if you text him a joke and ask how the family are he will never reply, if you text "can you give us a hand Monday night with moving something and there is a drink in it for you" you can guarantee he will respond.
My youngest (17) is always texting me (usually about food!), she gets the right strop on if you don't reply instantly, I generally always do reply straightaway; as does she, unless I am pre-occupied, plus if I didn't reply quickly they would all build up and I wouldn't know whether I was coming or going.
