Influence of Driving games on your actual motoring career ?
Discussion
Playing early driving games (mostly borrowing my brothers PS1, as I was more into flight simulators and hence stuck with desktop computers) certainly didn't do any harm and did make me flirt with the idea of buying a Mk.4 Supra or Nissan Skyline R34 though I never went down that road and decided ultimately that an American V8 was a far better prospect.
The problem I have always found with these simulators is, no matter how good the force feedback there is only so much you can do. Depth perception (though the new VR headsets will hopefully address that) and the lack of seat of your pants feeling has always been a problem for me with these home computer/console based driving simulators.

Great game, but for me it was Gran Turismo that had the bigger influence:
I always get insanely jealous when you post these up Andy I got my Skyline GTST because it's the first car I bought when playing through Gran Turismo the 2nd time, I remember the joy of being able to tune it up and up almost all the way. Now that I own my very own one I am happy to have met one of my hero cars, none of what it does has let me down or gone below my expectations. Here are the auction pictures of mine

Yours looks like a great find. I can't remember the last time I saw an unmodified looking GTS-T.
Another big influence for me from the Gran Turismo series was the wheel shop. It introduced me to a lot of the designs and manufacturers that are popular real world choices, including Rays CE28s which I've currently got on the car.

Thanks, it hasn't been as hard as I thought to keep it standard either. I do have a modern amp under the HICAS ecu and the stupid foglight but hopefully I can hinge that so it only shows with the light is on. It was a grade 4 too so the only work I need to do on it is just refresh the paint which is showing it's 23 years and the scratch I got in the work car park Since getting mine my importer has said "we haven't seen anything as good and unmodified as yours", though I suspect they are buttering me up as they've just started a part ex service
