Alfa recently ranked really high in a recent JD Power survey.

Trouble is, Alfisti love to rubbish the surveys when the put Alfa towards the bottom of the pile yet applaud them when they show something they like. A bit like the road tests.

For example, Harris on the 4c - he's a clown who cannot drive / doesn't know what he's talking about. On the BIG GQV, Harris is a driving God who gets good cars.....LMAO.
Harris's video for Top Gear was weird. He seemed to think the rear axle was in the wrong place! I always liked it being behind the front one, personally.

If the QF really is the "four door Ferrari saloon" that the press raves on about, those finance deals should not worry customers. I do suspect limited numbers for the QF model here in the UK.

Having spoken to some local Alfa dealers, I am not that overwhelmed by the feedback just on initial enquiries. I know that is not Alfa Romeo's fault, however dealers need to get the right calibre of person in to sell their £30k+ cars!

Just remember, those same people sold £111,000 worth of 8C to people...!!!

Well as an aside I went to the Launch today and came away with much wantage. Like others looking at it in pics I thought the proportions were a little out.

The tyres looked to smalll for the wheel arches however in person they are a perfect fit which was a relief. The sound was another issue for me. I had heard how it sounded on HQ youtube vids and was unconvinced however heard one in real life revving up a number of times today and have to say its very agreeable.

Also kind of amusing that they had a graphite silver 4 door M3 lined up next to the red one I pics of.

Well worth the money IMO.

arbon Brakes are a 5.5k option. There is a stereo upgrade option to a 900 watt system which does sound fantastic. IIRC Carbon seats were a 2.5k option. All in with carbon seats, brakes and stereo upgrade and basically the main decent spec you are looking at 71-72k all in which in the grand scheme of things is not bad given the options list for the BMW M3 for ex.

Others have posted photos but I got a few of the carbon bits i like the look of...

Now there's a seat back for people with no kids! I've also heard from people that have tried both, that standard seats actually have more support amd are more comfortable. These seem designed for posing! As for carbon brakes, they seem to he much snatchier than standard so I'm skipping both. I wish the teledials could be had in silver as well but they are a must. As is 8C paint and I'm glad the upgraded stereo is a good one. Just have to persuade the dealer that, yes, I want to buy one and actually getting back to me might be a good plan.

In terms of the seats I have no idea what seats other people were sat in but the carbon ones were much more supportive and "tight" on the side bolstering than the standard ones.

Personally if I can work out a way to justify one the carbon seats would be on the list without doubt as would the stereo upgrade.
I would also be putting in a request for a minor engine bay mod unlikely to happen but it bugs me which would be for the engine bay braces to be made out of carbon or at least painted a sating black finish as it jarrs when I look in the engine bay.

That was the only other issues was finish. As usual. The wing mirrors I would also need to sort as the mirror housing is fine but the part that attaches it to the car is made of very cheap looking plastic similar to what you used to get on the ford Ka bumper which would go all funny and grey after a bit of time in the sun.

And then there was the air vent on the front wing. Yet again seemed cheap plastic. Would need to be replaced either with something metal or carbon fibre as its out of place to the rest of the exterior styling.

Why have carbon roof, bonnet, splitter, boot spoiler and sideskirts and then put a nasty plastic air vent and door mirrors???

As an aside they had the latest m3 there for comparison. I asked whether Alfa were going to offer a non painted carbon roof as with the bmw and was told they are considering it at present and should know early next year.

Oh also think at the rear the lower bumper/venturi should be carbon as well.

I heard some people say the carbon seats were wider and less supporting a skinnier frame. I'm also worried that the lovely shiny back to them will get ruined buy my kids shoes! They could scuff diamond!

Regarding finish, the early prototype white one I saw at Arese last July seemed well enough made. Plastics don't bother me that much. The only thing I really don't like and wish hadn't made production is that awful tow hook cover on the offside grill. Why doesn't it at least have the diamond pattern embossed on it? It annoys me!

I think that's the ACC radar, the tow hook cover is above that, on the painted part of the bumper.

So £10K down, 48 payments of £719 (£34,500) and a final payment of £19,250. I wonder what it'll be worth at 4 years and 50K miles as if it's £25k+ that stacks up quite well against a lot of M3/M4 lease deals I've seen.
Sorry, those figures seem barking mad to me. Just wait until it's 4yrs old and a more realistic secondhand price.

But he doesn't want to wait 4 years he wants it now & if the M3/4 (which according to EVO is the third best with the Alfa being 1st) deals are similar money then I say go & buy it/lease it. smile

I was also at the static launch in London on Saturday morning. By all accounts the date of start of production will be announced to customers next Friday (14th), according to the UK Marketing Manager.

These Nationwide figures are better on the Giulia. I think they're getting close to the Germans, or at least BMW 3-series
All 10k/pa

Had a nice present from Alfa today in the form of an info pack. It seems most finance deals are interest free so in principle not that bad.

One that jumped out at me was the 29.650 down and 29.375k final payment 2 years down the line interest free.

Your comment just seems a bit daft when the other option is apparently badly implemented and spoils the driving experience. I also get the feeling the majority of people who are anti auto/dsg have never actually driven one and complain purely because of TG anecdotes and a fear of change. Not suggesting that's the case with yourself necessarily, just in general.
Not daft at all IMO and yes I've owned both a DSG and a BMW with a ZF auto and neither gave me the fun\interaction I would be after in a car with sporting pretensions.

I can't imagine the manual is so bad it spoils the driving experience, most reviews don't say that, just that it's not as good as it could be but then I've read that about a lot of modern manual boxes, only to find the few I've tried to be more than acceptable.

As an example it's generally accepted wisdom that the DCT equipped E9x M3 is the one to go for as it's a "better" match for the engine and the manual isn't that great. I've tried both and I'd take the manual any day of the week.

As with Granfondo if the Guilia was available as a manual, Alfa would already have my deposit, as it is it will go in the same category as AMG's, nice cars, shame about the gearbox.

Its a little subjective isnt it....

Shmees video shows its catch feature which rev matches in the manual. Keep foot down and just change gear.

biggrin

I'm just frustrated at Alfa's amazing ability to always mess things up at the last hurdle. The 4c had the potential to be an ammazing sportscar and yet a few odd decisions like making it auto only and the final setup meant it hasn't really lived up to its true potential. The Guilia is yet another Alfa that I truely lusted after when it was first announced but yet again they've managed to make some odd decisions that have meant I've lost interest.

I just find autos boring and if fitted to a SUV or luxobarge then fine but for a car to be enjoyed on the road then it has to be manual for me!
