Now I'm a E39 owner myself and am partial to a little Bavaria but really you might want to check your own girlfriend out before you start throwing jokes around laugh
Actually I've just sold that hehe

But at no point during my ownership did I ever say it was cool. It is, however, far less embarrassing than the monstrosity above!

Just what I was thinking. Someone releases a 600+bhp 5-seat saloon with RWD and a manual box and we're worried about the look of the tail lights?? Or that we couldn't possibly use it for a first date?? I'm just annoyed that the wagons don't come with a manual box any more.
The world's ugliest and fattest girl may give the best shag you'd ever get....but not sure if I'd want to.
Hey, if looks matter that much to you then crack on. If that same girl was also world 100m sprint champion would it matter so much to you? Whatevs - it's a big saloon that's not German or JLR so will never be a hit here.

Have you seen one in the flesh?

It's got huge presence.

Followed one of these this morning on the school run, and couldn't help but think that the rear lights just look lost on that rear end. I wasn't a fan of the front either but, like a wart, it's grown on me.
Having said that, the previous iteration of the 7 series was a J-Lo car with a great, big, out of proportion fat arse....

Definitely know which one I would rather drive biggrin (And no, it isn't the gopping BMW that just made me puke a little)

It's definitely a marmite car, I thinks it's great. But let's not escape the bigger picture, the Australians are not making the Holden HSV any more because production is cheaper in Asia, the same way Ford production was shipped out there a decade ago. It's a shame because it's part of aussie culture, a big stonking V8 and a supercharged for good measure. I imagine a large number of jobs will be lost. But with that asking price, I can't imagine many will want to spend that kind of disposable income to on a car in a country with such ferocious speed limits and enforcement.

The original 2007/2009 cars look well-proportioned and not stupidly shouty (except for the exhaust).
The first make over in 2010 was a step backwards but this second 'update' is truly, truly awful.
Get a really good 2009 car for c. 20k, then spend 7k on a supercharger (if you feel the need) and you have an infinitely better looking car.
I'm inclinded to agree. My preference would be VE front, E3 rear, but would want the VF chassis, drivetrain and interior.

The regular GTS is a lot cheaper there than the E63, M5 and RS6. GTS is near $100k, E63 and RS6 are $250k.... And Australia has the highest sales per capita for AMG! M5 pricing is different as there is a stripper version for $185k and the full fat version for around $245k.

It isn't really because production is cheaper in Asia - it is because the Aus market is so fragmented now it simply isn't possible to make a mass-market car locally in sufficient volume to make it viable without government support (like in every other country with a car industry). Gone are the days of churning out 150k Commodores a year and them all finding homes.

Last year the Aus market was 1,155,408 cars in total. Holden sales totalled 102,951 - that total (which is across multiple models both locally produced and imported) isn't enough to keep a plant running, let alone the Commodore portion.

As for the rumoured HSV W1 - it will sell because collectors will snap them up: even limited edition Commodores get bought by collectors.

I love it, I'd have one in that green colour too, it's mental - in a good way.

Although the idea of that engine set up in a more mundane looking thing that hides its true intent would be alluring indeed, lose the exhauts and any badges, tone down the body kit and get it in silver or black - sorted. lick

Problem with the earlier cars is the interior , its really basic and dated

The new Gen F has a pretty poor build quality and beyond the engine there isnt a lot to love but that V8 is enough for most people to warrant interest

Yes you'd never think you were in a German car that's for sure, but all was forgiven in that department when they were banging them out new for £22,500 in 2009!

Rattly trim, poor stitching on the seats, generally cheap plastics, but it depends on what you are used to I guess

Better interior than my beemer, and I was shocked at the interior of a C63 I compared it to recently. How much time you spent in one then?

Enough to seriously think about buying one, and lets be honest no one buys one of these expecting german build quality that's not what they are about

You have one so you are bound to think its faultless however comparing the quality of the C63 amg and the VXR8 we clearly aren't on the same page the quality of materials and finish in the former is of a different league

The C63 was horrible mate. Really not what I was expecting after all the hype I have heard about them.
