A bit of dramatic licence to add a bit of excitement I think. Indian were there first wink
Indian had the world motorcycle speed record in 1902, and a racing V-twin by 1903; that was the year Harley was formed.
And Indian came 1st, 2nd and 3rd in the IOM Senior TT in 1911.
Nothing I've read suggests they were crooked 'at the coal face', but there were certainly some issues at board level by 1913.

The Davidsons came from near Brechin, Scotland. Some folks recently restored the 'family home', and it's kind of mecca for Harley riders if they're visiting Scotland.
