Take yours off first and hold it under a tap to see if it passes water, mine old one hardly slowed it down

Problem with mine is that when the valve goes towards full closure, the exposed wire at the valve tends to flex rather than close the valve the last few mm.
Anyone have a fix for this?
Can I buy a thicker or stronger wire to pass down the existing sheath? Be nicer than replacing the whole thing?

For the sake of under a tenner and 30 minutes it's iworth changing.
You don't need to drain the system when changing as you only get a few drips . A few rags on the passenger footwell will absorb all of the drips
Just make sure that you keep the clip that holds the outer cable sheath in place as it doesn't come with the replacement.
It transformed my car when I changed mine and being able to get cold air in.

Passenger footwell, pull the bit of carpet down on the left side infr9nt of the door and it's just below the dashboard. A clip holding each pipe on, use a screwdriver to prise the clip holding the cable off and put it all back together as you took it off.
It's a bit fiddly because it's above your head but it's simple to swap out, just put some towels down as said. There's a tiny possibility that you'll have to bleed the radiator but I didn't need to, just topped up the water with the half a pint that it lost.
