boring one this:

heated front windscreen.

oh and DAB. how anyone lives without these in their cars is now beyond me. Not sure many more toys are required beyond this smile

The little clip on the windscreen of my octavia that holds car park tickets. It means you avoid the sticky residue left on the window.
I've never stuck a parking ticket to anything, I just place it on the dash.

Advanced key. It's just less of a fiddle and pressing a button to start the car is more fun than turning a key.

HUD...Love it it makes driving cars without one hard work. Only if it worked as intended with a bigger range of polarised sunglasses.

Saying that I like going from the BMW to the MX5...different variety of chalk to do the same thing.

Absolutely agreed! Wish I had electric folding mirrors though, my last 2 had this and it is a grest thing to have.

Boring answer but the hill assist brake from my old Subarus. Great for crawling traffic up a hill, come to a halt and take foot off brake. It stays engaged until you reach biting point again on the clutch.

When your commute involves mini roundabouts at the top of steep hills this is so much nicer than having to constantly put the handbrake on/off.

Climate control. I will not own another car without it. Having to fiddle with manual HVAC controls is incredibly infuriating whenever I have to drive a car without it.

Silf-dimming rear view mirror, cruise/climate control, heated front window and seats, and electric drivers seat.

Had a Focus Mk3 with all those, was a very comfortable car, and save for perhaps the heated/electric seats id be willing to pay for all those options on a new car.

Current alfa has cruise/climate, and that is decent enough, could even do without those if need be, but comfort-wise its all very nice kit

Indeed - friend had a Lotus Sunbeam which made the most astonishing sound for a 4-pot. Don't think he enjoyed the regular maintenance they needed vs modern EFI though...

Its very interesting and surprising to see many responses focusing on mod-cons such as air con etc. Id have thought there'd be more styling and character references.

Guess we PHers tend to base much of our purchases upon the driving pleasure so we buy cars accordingly. It's almost default that you want a lively engine, sharp handling, etc.

I've read this thread as being about the little extras that wouldn't stop you from buying a specific car but really do make life a bit easier if fitted.

I should also point out that having had two cars with reversing cameras how much I'd love them on every car!

Indeed, I was surprised thats all, being PH id assumed peoples would automatically select noise, handling and styling traits but i guess making driving more pleasurable is equally as important.

The thread is about anything really, nice to haves and essentials you've experienced and would take forward to your next car.

Fully keyless: I couldn't go back to fishing in my pocket for a bloody key nowadays.

Adaptive cruise: Pop it on in traffic and let the car do the stop/start crawling crap. Also brillo for average speed cameras, especially in heavy traffic.

Heated door mirrors are a great feature, switch them on and by the time I've got out of the cup-de-sac, door mirrors are clear!

Only bettered by that CSL induction sound you mentioned. I do miss 4th to 3rd change downs combined with a bit of foot to floor cool
