New Ford KA 5 door

Just looked at a couple of pictures, dull interior, is the instrument cluster from a 1996 Fiesta but with the addition of a trip computer?
Looks decent enough to me - what more do you need in a little city car? Rev counter, speedo, fuel, little trip computer to give you some more info.Pistonheads - overcomplicated dashboards matter!

I dont understand why most cars have rev counters. Most owners have no idea whatsoever what there purpose is.
On diesels they are particularly useless.

I know it's all marketing and product evolution and so on but I find it slightly annoying that with each generation of a model, the car grows bigger, and then a couple of years later the manufacturer has a eureka moment and "re-invents" the city car by launching a whole new titchy model to kick off the cycle once again.
It is pretty sensible. How do you make the new car 'better' than it's predecessor? Put an extra 40mm in the wheelbase. Boom, easy improvement. Do that two or three times and there's space for a whole new model underneath. Exciting! David87 said:
Hmm. I'm sure it's all well and good, but think it should perhaps have not used the KA name. This or a Dacia Sandero?
Reports elsewhere say that it costs a hell of lot of money to get a new model name into buyers' minds. So Ford Europe had to decide between that, and reusing an established name. It's much bigger than previous Kas, and not really aimed at the same kind of buyer, so it's not really a Ka at all. But are you really going to spend squillions getting this car's name known? So they stuck with Ka and added a plus, when it's really more of a Fiesta minus.I think it will sell well, if it's basically as good as recent Fiestas, as initial reviews suggest. "Funky" designs are overrated, IMO. The Mk 2 Ka was quite stylish but didn't sell. If memory serves, the radical Mk I wasn't a runaway seller either. The motoring press like radical designs (bored from reviewing cars day in, day out?), and tend to underestimate how conservative the market can be.

Why bother, buy a fiesta.
For several thousand more? Ford have, not by coincidence, discontinued the cheap versions of the Fiesta.[At this point someone normally says "but you could buy a used [x] for the same money."
Yes, but it would be used. You would have to compare its price to that of a similarly used Ka+.]
Looks blander than a mint imperial and that interior looks horrific. mind you, with the Ecosport and ne kuga, Ford's design is disappearing (Mondeo excepted).
If this Ka is that big, I wonder if they are basically building it on what will soon be the old Fiesta platform and have abandoned the Fiat 500 platform sector that Fiat kicked their arse in.
If the next Fiesta and Focus grow, the Mondeo will be 7 series sized.... the current Mondeo is already Granada sized.
VW tried a cheap Brazilian with the VW Fox and that bombed faster than a Stuka in an air raid.

It isn't a replacement for the Ka; it's a completely different car albeit shares the nameplate.
It isn't a sub compact car as the previous Ka was, it's a B car so the same segment as Fiesta. But it essentially offers a 5 door, value for money B car experience and will fill the gap of Fiesta Studio and Style as Fiesta will start at Zetec.
For anyone who is worried about the quality of the Ka+, you will be pleasantly surprised if you spend some time with one. The space inside is also very impressive for a car of that size. The quality is even more impressive given the car starts at £8995.

No better from the back
The original Ka may not have been the million seller that the Fiesat was, but it wasn't too bad http://left-lane.com/european-car-sales-data/ford/...

I like the look of it and will test drive next Tuesday. I don't know if some people buy a car to impress others, I'm not in the group - I really don't care what others think as long as I'm happy with it. Likewise I don't judge other people on the car they drive. I saw a nice jag F type recently and I must say the car looked impressive, however the driver didn't go up on down in my estimation. Guess I've made my point, so no need to drone on. I have considered a Dacia, but the Ka+ appeals on the basis that (due to 2nd hand buyers' preconceptions)it will likely be easier to sell if I choose to in the future.
