350hp 4WD with rear bias. + 15% on price.
I don't see it.... I just don't.... yes on the power, but an awd performance car from Honda..... beggers belief.... (Hybrid NSX excluded)

Honda have seemingly talked about it re capturing "the record", IE the Ring FWD laptime, so I don't believe for a second that this will be anything other than FWD.

FWD, 335bhp and retain the manual box.
Someone at Honda told me it would have 340bhp and FWD. Don't know about the gearbox but I reckon it will be manual again. I am not sure that Honda have a suitable auto box to put in this car, and a CVT would not appeal to the target market.

The new Civic actually looks really nice in real life. In pictures it looks a complete mess, but in real life it somehow works.

So the last hideous mess they released was a concept then? I'm sure all the Halfords tat will still be on the next one. biggrin

This was the last "concept"....

I never said the final version was pretty... but it's selling.... and the fact the halfrauds tat has a purpose (apart form the red pinstripe) it makes it all the more appealing.

This isn't a 'concept' it's a prototype. This is the prototype of the previous one:

Look's incredibly similar and just like this one, very few changes.
The interior is also completed just not released yet.

The only details confirmed are that it is Manual, FWD and although a step up in power it won't be massive. I'd expect maybe 320-330bhp at a guess?
It's also lighter, stiffer and wider than the previous FK2. The 2015 model was always aimed as being a rolling template for this model. That's why the last one was never intended to be a huge seller. They're still selling them but they've already hit numbers and are winding down ready for this one.

All this info is from someone very much in the know on Civic Type R Owners.

Hmmm... Looks a little awkward but still better than the present one. Trouble is, the real thing will sit higher on wheels that don't fill the arches and will be much more awkward still. Only bmw and Porsche seem to know how to fill a wheel arch properly these days (on their hot models I mean).

Are the new ones selling? I've seen one so far, yet I've seen 4 maybe 5 Focus RS's, and the first deliveries only came like 4-5weeks back.

I think the issue with the last one was the concept/prototype or whatever looked awesome, then when it arrived it had crap wheel arches and a crap rear wing, so a lot of people that were genuinely interested were instantly turned off. Also, whether you're a Honda fan or not, the Type R is in the exact same bracket as the RS, which has more power, 4WD, and much stronger residuals.

Just to add. I realise Honda had some catching up to do, as the FN2 was probably behind its competitors when it was released, so they had to go for the 300bhp £30k hot hatch category, but I think a lot of Honda fans were hoping for an EP3 sort of version. Smaller, lightly, less power, but fun, Honda's version of the Fiesta ST essentially. I loved my EP3, and to me was the last proper Type R. But I wouldn't say no to a Mugen FN2

Sales have been slow AFAIK. Nothing like the EP3.

I've only seen about 3 or 4 RS's but seen at least 10 new CTR's.

According to the Honda lovers they didn't want to sell many - the car is a development project for the next Civic Type R which they're kindly letting some people own in the mean time.

Believe that and you'll believe anything...

Still not a great ratio considering the time the R has been available compared to the RS.

Finally the CTR coming to the States. The demand for fast Hondas here is great. Dealer markups will be insane, the focus RS has arrived with markups as high as 25k over msrp.

They did sell the Acura Integra type r here for a short time.

This needs to be awd.
CTR's should stay FWD forever.

There's no way this will be 4WD, the reason it's going to come out quick after the last model is it will share all the technology. Expect 15bhp more or so and a quicker ring lap, the reason the huge (and long) gestation for the previous model is that it was always going to be shared across both models (present and future).

Engine, driveline, brakes and suspension etc will be largely carried over from the previous model with a few tweaks here and there.

Body and styling obviously will all be new.

Considering what Honda want for a down payment on their finance options you'd certainly think they weren't playing for market share, over six grand down?

Pass!

This car will be sold world wide, the first Type r the yanks will be getting. I assume this means a softer ride, wider seats, a bigger body.

As one of the few who actually likes the current CTR, that is gopping.

Strange given it looks similar to the current shape Civic in the US, that I actually do like.
