I read on another site that the Veloce is only coming to the UK in RWD form and we will not get the 4wd version but I am not sure if this is true.
Interesting. Germany will only get it in AWD+Auto form. Which is a bit annoying if you dont want either. The AWD system is supposed to be pretty light, but together with the ZF 8 that is still roughly 110 kg of additional weight compared to a manual RWD car. And the stuff going to make it a good bit more expensive obviously.

I dont get it. They make this nice new RWD platform, go to great lenghts to remind the world of Alfas sporting heritage, and then the Model that should be the bread and butter performance version is AWD + Auto.

Not sure if there is anything technical stopping them, but if it is only market research...

I wondered the same. Possibly the worst car I've ever driven was a 2014 Astra diesel with manual box. No redeeming features and the gearbox was dreadful.
Try the older 1.6 petrol model, it's genuinely woeful in every aspect, of course it's transport, which is I suppose the only criteria it needs to fill, but it's crap.

I don't normally get into the 'worst car' posts but yep the 1.6 petrol Astra in 8v form was a horrid horrid car. I drove one in two Astra 'body shapes' and it was a truly horrid engine.. Must have been bad since it's been a lot of years now and I still remember the things.. biggrin

Are Alfa still using the Q4 name for their AWD? Im sure there was a news story where they had sold (or swapped) the rights to that name to Audi in some sort of golf course secret-handshake style deal?

I'm not sure why they would go to all the expense of developing a rwd platform and then only offer rwd in the least powerful eco versions which don't benefit from it or the 510hp Quadrifoglio which will be a small volume seller.
Completely agree. - This car looks fantastic but...

4-pot: Nope.
AWD: Nope.
Auto: Nope.

...that'd instantly turn me towards a manual 340i.

They agreed Audi could use it, that's all.

All nice and dandy except the Veloce is not coming to the UK, at least not yet, plus it's still auto only. Oh why do you tease us so Alfa? frown
The auto (with those great Ferrari style alu paddles) is the one to go for. The 6 sp really isn't much to write home about. It's not particularly bad but the auto is just better.
I am still wishing this comes to the UK. It would actually be quite stupid for alfa not to sell it in the UK

Apparently Alfa UK have confirmed to dealers that it is coming to the UK. There is supposed to be an official announcement of price and specs this month I believe.

Here's hoping it can actually be had in manual form. (not holding my breath though)

I really hope that's the case. I'm happy to have an auto 😀
