Another supercar with no roof. Yawn.

Aside from Ferrari making money, it's pointless.
Oh dear. What's the point of anything?

The noise this makes combined with no roof would be driving bliss!

Ah!! So Porsche's mistake was making a great car affordable? Well that'll learn 'em!
no, their mistake was making it limited.
you don't accept my point that limited number production is common for £1,000,000 cars and uncommon for £100,000 cars?

I don't often see the point of supercars. Not fully exploitable on the road, surpassed by specific track machines on circuit, they seem to be only a way of flashing your huge bank account. As for Ferraris, I prefer their GTs than sports cars, in general.

However, I really like this one. You have to give Ferrari the PR crown, they are the best at selling lifestyle, heritage and other intangibles.

tl;dr: this thing is gorgeous and its sound is pure awesomeness. The only bad thing about the ad is the german guy. Acting is not his strong point.

2 weeks ago you posted on a thread about controlled motorways, suggesting we should pay to be in control of the car, or go full autonomous or something.... less we become 'dullards'

And now you're yawning at an achingly beautiful drop top Ferrari, that would/could stimulate most if not all senses... [cough] dullard[/cough]

Very nice video. There wasn't anything specific in terms of its performance, but the throwbacks to heritage were a great touch.

I really enjoyed that, and if I wanted the car before, that only made the emotions stronger.

Forza!

Reduced structural rigidity, spoiled aerodynamics, and probably not much fun to drive when the power is used.
The closed version is plain awesome, I don't see the benefit of a removed roof for this particular sports (sic!) car.

I don't quite see a relation between those posts. May I bother you to expand on this?

"beauty" lies in the eyes of the beholder, so let's agree to disagree here. Speaking of roof versus no roof I simply don't see the benefit of this open car. The coupé - yes. Just great. I feel bored by the inevitability in which car companies make their open follow-ups on cars. Since we're talking sportscars here: Will the open version be faster?

The Aperta's structural rigidity is the same as the coupes so you are wrong on that account. Many cars with carbon tubs can be just as strong roofless as their coupe counterparts as it is the tub and chassis itself which provides the rigidity not the body, take a look at the McLaren 12C's for example which are essentially a rolling chassis with a choice of body's plonked ontop. The Pagani Zonda is another example where the open top version is as strong as the coupe. The fact that you've used the word "probably" in a sentance suggests that you essential don't have a clue as regards to how fun the Aperta will be when the power is used. Is there a logical reason why the Aperta will behave massively differently to the coupe as it's rigidity and drag are the same as the coupes and there is a reported "minimal" weight gain?

I would guess that for many having a car open to the elements and the noise of the engine, especially one as fantastic as a Ferrari V12, would provide much more stimulus and entertainment than a closed roof version.

OK this might be a bit Yah boo sucks, but hear goes. You can’t store the hardtop in the car so you will be restricted to 130kph with the storable tent plus the door opens at such an angle that it would be impossible to park in any reasonable sized space. Much as I hate to be practical about these things to me this is just plain silly in a car like this and potentially embarrassing

Probably not a concern when rolling through Dubai, or Hollywood, or Miami

People driving multi million pound cars will either get the roof (and luggage) sent onwards with their staff or whoever, plus they won't be parking in multistoreys or supermarkets where your last point would be a concern.
