You do a 1/8 of a mile in around 9 seconds, which using google equates to 14 second 1/4.

Car and driver records a standard clk55 quarter at about 13 seconds so it would look like his car would be faster in a drag.

Not a track but in real world the clk is quicker without a remap.

Most of the advantage in rwd for better launch.
I don't think a CLK55 will be significantly quicker in a straight line on the roll than my car.

On the track it may pull a car length or two on the straight coming up to the Complex, but hardly leaving me for dead.

Comparing my best 1/4 (13.6@102) to 13.2@107 of the CLK, it's not a massive difference.

To be honest, you do sound very precious about it - which is ironic, considering how you prostrate yourself (through it) before the internet in search of validation.

Just go enjoy what you have, and do something else with the time you would otherwise spend convincing the internet that it's a good car.
I know a guy with a Polo GTi who you would get on well with...

i don't really care what people think. Hence why it's covered in stickers and i've never really asked anyone "what wheels should i put on it" or "do you think it would look good with X".

I just don't like it when someone insults it when their car is hardly anything special. (if he had a 458 then fair enough but a 15 year old Merc?
i'm not ashamed to say i am proud of my car - it is my baby - and will defend it (and diesels) where necessary against archaic views.

i would say a hand made engine is special over other cars, i would want a clk55amg just for the noise.

I don't have a CLK55.

Really ive got to drive all the way to silverstone to prove some lad wrong in a 1.7 derv? Not being funny, but Ive put a vid up on you tube going past Z4's 3.0, Mini cooper S john works, S2000's, 328 track spec beamers, fiesta St's running 230bhp, bla bla bla etc etc. On my first outing I was keeping a 355 Ferrari behind me and he stayed there. Was sod all in it with a 996 GT3 RS on the straights at Oulton Park. And this lad would get close in a golf diesel? at Silverstone of all places, a much quicker and more suited track to my car. This is hilarious. Please carry on.

Perhaps not.
I just die inside a little when people talk about their car like it's the centre of their life...

I built my car to do track work smile if your automatic cruising machine can avoid cooking it's brakes within the first 3 laps I would be impressed.
It managed fine at Oulton park giving it hell lap after lap, no fade what so ever, CLK63 brakes front and rear help, with floating discs 360mm up front with 6 pot calipers, 4 pots rear 330mm discs braided lines, and good fluid. And H&R coilovers.

:lol

Ive got 400 bhp and 400lbs/ft. And its not made at 2500rpm and drop off 500rpm later. Im sure it would be amazing though.

Number mean nothing. That's why my car will do 0-60 in 4.9 seconds which on paper is 0.2s slower than yours yet you have 100bhp more than me. I presume that 100bhp is disipated by the hot air I am reading in your posts;-)

A scirrco is 1300kg, mines 1600kg. Your maths makes about as much sense as your bull st. I have uprated brakes and suspension. Doh.

I knew you'd like it!

It's ok, when people get scared they often start biting.

Shall we chalk this up as a victory to the diesel then? wink

On a UK circuit, i think the derv will be the quicker car. Much lighter so power to weight isn't far off at all, will stop a lot better, and can get into and out of the corners cleanly. The big AMG will be a right handful and kill it's tyres imo. At the 'ring, where it's all high speed turns, then i could see it being closer, but unless you are doing the GP circuit at Silverstone, my monies are on the derv, sorry.....

LOL the E55 isn't even 1900KG.

That's the trouble with people like youself mate. You read everything off the internet and everything you type and believe is off stats. Scared? lol yeah stting myself mate.

Ill stick to what I know. And I know what my car is capable off, and what its done on 3x track days and 1 day at santa pod. Diesel 4 pots modified or not, aren't in the same league. But thanks for the laughs.
