I keep our spare car keys in a safe.

However I have been to the safe to get my spare key and it is not there.

My wife and I have access to the safe and she is unlikely to have taken the spare key.

Where has it gone?

Note: I am exhibiting no other signs of dementia and haven't become incontinent yet

Did you find cheese in the safe? If so, key in fridge.

I must have moved it intentionally. Otherwise I'd have made an Outlook note to recover it and would have had it mind also. But Outlook and my mind are a blank.

No, he will accuse the wife which will cause a row. 6 months later he will find the key in an old jacket pocket but by then the marriage will have broken down due to lack of trust. Divorce will follow and he will be out on the street without a house and car.

Really, whatever you do, don't accuse the wife!

Alternatively, you could ask her nicely and she will remind you you gave it to the garage last time the car was serviced.

Under what circumstances/event would you have considered removing it from the safe?

For example, if you went on a long trip and wanted to make sure the spare was in your wife's handbag, in case you lost the original.

or, you dropped it in for a service and offered up the spare as that keyring does not contain your door key and x, y, or Z item.

Have you recently undertaken any such 'event'??

The last time I am SURE I handled the key was when I shut my no.1 key in the front door and bent it. I swapped keys.

I MIGHT have used it in April when I took the car for service. I have left a message with the dealership just in case.

When you find it, bear in mind that Madonna has the lock.

Have you been on any trips, or stayed overnight anywhere since April?

Yes but not with the spare key.
