Best / Worst car for being let out of busy side junctions ?
Discussion
BEST: Morgan 3 wheeler - people LOVE this car, you get people stopping to let you out even when you're actually parked!
WORST: Range Rover Sport - seriously, don't even bother, park up and wait till everyones gone, you're NEVER getting out in that!
Lets have your suggestions people, points awarded for left field /amusing suggestions ;-)

Best? Morgan, probably, judging by my one trip in one. For personally letting vehicles out, anything interesting, really.
Worst? Again, not personally keen on letting either these out...
The taxi will either be driven at 20mph (in which case you do not want to be stuck behind it) or 120mph, in which case all motoring laws will be ignored as it overtakes you anyway - even in a 30mph limit. The old white van because you can't see past them, or, like the taxi, will pass you at whatever the fastest inappropriate speed it's clogged-up, spewing diesel engine can drag it to... again, even in a 30mph zone.

It's not about the car. I let people out based on attitude. If they're barging out aggressively, they can fecking wait. If they're patient and wait for an invitation, out they come.
And the a holes who don't thank you when let out are the aggressive mr/mrs more important than everyone else types. Grrrrrr...
I wouldn't let a morgan out if it's a stinky 80s engine anyway.

BEST : I get let out all the time in my kit car - think it must be something to do with people wanting to get a closer look as you drive by (much like the Morgan)
WORST : Smart Car - no one ever wanted to let me out, probably because they thought I'd hold them up..... or they thought I was a joke. (probably the latter)

I thought it was just me who had this attitude.... However IME when I am in the TVR I tend to get let out at junctions fairly easily.

You might have a point here. I get out an awful lot at junctions in the M3, there is a complicated (in that no one really knows who has priority, I suspect that I shouldn't have...) crossroads just outside my house that I always get free vend at, but could be the layout of the junction. And the a holes who don't thank you when let out are the aggressive mr/mrs more important than everyone else types. When I had the Impreza people tended to have less choice as you could get into some fairly narrow openings quite safely (well I thought so!)
If I'm slowing down anyway, either for a queue or to turn into said junction, I'll usually let at least one car out.
If it's something nice or interesting I might be more inclined only because it catches my attention.
If someone's barging over the give-way line already then I'll feel less inclined to let them out.

I can't think of anything I've owned that meant I got let out more, but 2 cars stick in my mind as the worst;
The black NC MX5 I had until June of last year. Seemed to give off an 'I'm a cock' vibe, especially if I had the roof down and shades on.
The 997 911 I won on here for a week back in '08. I had tickets to Def Leppard at the NEC and, seeing as I'd left the 206 I had at the time in Accident Exchange's car park, I took the 911. That was a nightmare getting out of the car park after the gig.

WORST; BMW 3 series
Been driving a 3 Series for over 17 years and not had a real problem. You get the odd person who clearly wants to make their point and not let you out but most are as accommodating as they are when I've been in other types of car. Tailgating is another issue altogether though. I find the types of car most likely to be driven by the kinds of people who hate BMW drivers are the ones perpetually clinging to my rear bumper!MitchT said:

Location changes this. In London if you don't show intent (barging as you call it) you can sit for ages waiting for an invitation. Do the same in Devon and you get all sorts of reaction to the interpreted aggressive driving.A show of gratitude should always be given when let out though.

I've only driven a 3 series twice and both times it was a pain! A company pool 316 to go to the bank. Wouldn't let me out of the industrial estate, wouldn't let me turn into the bank car park, wouldn't let me out of the bank car park....... you get the picture! The same trip in the Morgan was a quarter of the time and much friendlier.
Maybe it's a regional thing and there simply aren't many angry people in Yorkshire. That said though, to prove my other point, I had a woman in a Corsa up my arse when I was out during the last couple of hours!Gassing Station | General Gassing | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
