Our house had a gas-fired Rayburn Nouvelle fitted when we bought it, a la:

(not mine, but an identical model as far as I can tell)

Given that - despite servicing - it's proven to be pretty crappy at both cooking and heating, we've now fitted a modern boiler and are planning to reconfigure the kitchen to include an electric aga to go with our existing gas hob and fan oven. The fitting of the boiler means the Rayburn is now disconnected and is effectively a giant blue paperweight in our kitchen!

There are various companies online who offer purchase-and-collection of Rayburns, however none seem to be interested in ours. Aside from bunging it on eBay as 'buyer collects' are there any companies that a quick Google search may not have thrown up who might be worth talking to? I'm not fussed about getting money for it, I just want rid confused

Located in Oxfordshire if that helps (and if anyone wants it!). By all accounts it works perfectly, but [PH mode] our house is a little bit too big for it to cope with efficiently. [/PH mode] hehe

Ours was oil fired but sold on eBay for £256 despite being broken and a foul mustard colour.

eBay seems to be the place for them, its the same model we have, works a treat :-) our new spot is not on gas so we've just bought an Esse from the bay., 240quid..

Its a buyers market is you want one - depreciation is mind bending!

I'll clear it out of your way, always handy for spares. Only worth a case of beer though.

Is it in bits?

There will be a scrap value - Smiths of Bloxham would take it.

Indeed. My mate had a gas one and it was ruinous to run - electric one would have the electricity board round suspicious you had a weed farm!

Pah! We sadly had to get rid of our solid fuel AGA last year - I think it must have been over 50 years old.

That was real 'hardcore' AGA living - "I love the smell of anthracite in the morning, it smells of.... victory"smile

Nope. Disconnected but still in situ.

Gas would have been my preference - we had one in the last house. Unfortunately the planned location means we're unable to fit a flue so it's electric or nothing. At least it'll be easier to turn on and off than a gas one!

We looked at electric Agas but settled on an everhot in the end as it was far more controllable and after looking at one in the flesh I much preferred them. Only slightly more expensive but it included lots the Aga didn't like induction hob and day timer. Really impressed with it now.
