stick it in the bank and not tell a bloody soul, not even the mrs.

make the tough decision to quit work and "start my own business up", where I'd be very very busy....

spending most working days in an industrial unit building;
kit car*
off roader*

on the side I'd start to invest in some property

to outsiders I'd just become extremely successful over the course of a few years doing *insert generic manual labour job here* then I'd publicly start to invest in property and then "employ" a few mates at their current pay rates + a decent payrise to join me on a round the world tour, basically top gear challenges but without the camera crews! "living off the investments" (which just happen to be doing very well!!)

thumbup

  • any posts in the kit car section in a few months time about stripping a bugatti veyron and building an atom chassis around it's engine are purely coincidental and do not mean I won the Euro's! whistle

If you saw the state of my finances you wouldn't say that! I have a tendency to spend like there's no tomorrow, I fear that's what I'd actually do if I won the Euros!!

The best Jag XFR-S Sportbrake and Triumph Tiger I can find for me.
The best Jag F-Type S ragtop I can find for the missus.
A nice house or three (one here, one in the UK, one in Italy).
Sort the family out.
Invest the rest.
Done.

I would invest 100 mil and then spend 12m buying all the Volvos near me and putting them on the bonfire on Nov 5th - get rid of the crap cars and hopefully people would replace with more tasteful cars, they may even then be able to park!

I'd buy a Noble M600 so that every time someone on here says that Noble haven't sold any I can prove them wrong...

I've never played the lottery, but if it were me, I'd get the following off the top of my head. (my list would be too long if i thought more then 10sec about it.

a mint rover mini cooper 500 (the 'everyone must own a mini in their life' thing)

evo 3 (my favourite Gran turismo car)

NSX my other fave granturismo car.

ferrari 456
(my first diecast model car was this. and i cherished it like mad)

+ any 80s or 90s ferrai.
(i always loved that rear headlight design, flat and very wide.

my list could go on but cba.

I'd probably have a decent size workshop built with ramps etc and spend my time building silly cars hehe

For daily duties probably a VXR8 Bathurst or an RS500 Sierra, and for weekends probably some insane single turbo MKIV Supra.

Sod all.

£12m to family n stuff, £100m in the bank. Even at 2% interest that's £2m/yr, or £5500/day, you'd struggle to spend that. I'd travel around the world renting everything. Even if you did somehow manage to spend £5500 every single day you'd still wouldn't lose money.
But you're only protected for £75k of that £100m. So you would need just shy of 2000 banks to be safe. You can bet some significant number of those 2000 would go bankrupt, you would lose 70k each time.

I'm splitting the £12M between my brother, sister and mum and dad.
Is that what you're telling them, then pocketing the other £100m?
Yes, £4,000,000 each is still a st load of money and if someone gave that to me I'd be chuffed to bits. The interest off it could give them a really nice lifestyle without the headache of suddenly being very rich indeed.

It would be in various investment bonds, I wouldn't be dropping £100m in a Natwest current account

Annoying - I didn't realise it was a big jackpot and the winning numbers look just like the ones I would have picked. banghead

I'd get out of England as fast as I could (buy private jet of course) but not sure where in the world I could escape much of what I see, smell & hear that has ruined the land of my birth.
Find some sun, buy nice house & noisy open sports car & find useful & interesting stuff to do for myself & for others. Savour love & friendship & avoid laziness indulgence & pre-occupation with self.
