I must admit I've noticed so few British cars on european roads that I can't imagine it would really make that much difference.

And none of the populations of the other European countries are unhappy with the EU project or their elected politicians following an EU agenda are they?

I think this needs to be in NP & E rather than General Gassing.

Yeh, all those Qashqais/Jukes/Notes/Leafs built in Sunderland, Civics/CR-Vs built in Swindon, Avensises/Aurises built at Burnaston - they do all tend to blend into the background a bit.

It's very simple. If the UK leaves the EU and doesn't have access to the single market negotiated (which is very unlikely, since we don't seem to want to accept one of the four basic freedoms the single market is built upon) then there will almost certainly be a 10% duty applied on import. As there almost certainly will be on import of EU-built cars to the UK. Getting round that is precisely WHY those factories were built here in the first place.

OK, I'll be the one to say it......

So you know that all the Toyotas, Nissans and Hondas that you saw were not UK built?

Did you also assume that just because an Astra has an Opel badge it is built in Germany?

Did you see any Minis?

Speaking at the Paris Motor Show, Speth said JLR’s European sales team have reported customers turning their noses up at British cars after the vote to leave the EU.

“They have the very first customers in their showrooms [who] clearly highlight that they don’t want to buy British products any more,” he said.
So people are purposely going to a JLR showroom to tell them they are not going to buy from them...

OK, British brands then - internet pedants FFS. I'd be astonished if anyone's turned up at a Nissan, Honda or Toyota showroom and said they're not going to buy a British car there (and yes, I know JLR is Indian... Yawn).

Saw two Jaguar F-Paces in Germany yesterday, during a 20 minute journey. I had never seen on in the UK, then I saw one yesterday afternoon.

Who cares?

People, and the guardian need to remember the world is MUCH bigger than the EU. Asia, America, Russia etc....

But then that wouldn't play into the guardians fear mongering hands...

Calling bullst on that - why would you bother going to a showroom if you don't want to buy their car? They're just getting excuses in early in case their results are down at any point in the near future. Loads of companies doing that at the moment.

Probably chancers trying to get a discount.
"Oh ja I will buy you Jaguar at discounted rate, because surely parts prices are going to spike once the UK fks off!"

Brexit has made me more determined to try to buy British whenever I can. Every bit helps and everyone should do it.

The Guardian didn't just pull this story from their rear-end. They were quoting the boss off JLR.

Is blaming Brexit now the EU/UK equivalent of "Thanks Obama"?

All part of project fear "omg we will loose all our car sales and jobs and the banks and manufacturers will move to the EU"

its just softening up the sheep for when we stay in the single market with full free migration

or it is so complex to leave it takes 30 years to sort it out wink
