I've stopped reading the Guardian, it's becoming hysterical at times. Has it changed ownership or new Editor over the past 1-2yrs? Seems to have become more focused on headline grabbing

Ahhh the Guardian. A mirror for everything which is wrong with the left.

Check this out: their correction and clarification regarding their lies about News of the World:

https://www.theguardian.com/theguardian/2011/dec/2...

37 articles needed changing... (and lets not forget the Corbyn on a train saga)

Because, of course, no right-leaning papers ever "embellish" the truth, do they? No, every single word printed in the Sun and the Mail is absolute gospel...

The UK was never within Schengen AFAIK so what difference does leaving the EU make to illegal immigration ?
It is complex, I believe that the situation is that we are, but we have an "opt out" which means in practice, a slightly modified version of

The EU is trying to force their immigration/asylum policies on us as part of our exit negotiations, so that, and the loss of the hated Human Rights Act which shielded so many scumbags and terrorists will considerably strengthen our hand against illegal immigrants and gets us out of their quotas to accept "genuine asylum seekers" ... Despite the EU law saying that they have to make their Asylum claim in their country of entry... Our "friends" on the continent have consistently ignored this and tried to push as many as possible over to the UK to burden us

No, it's very simple. The UK is not, and never has been, a member of the Schengen agreement. Nor is Ireland. But Switzerland, Iceland and Norway are.

Jesus wept! You really have swallowed the Daily Mail's raging bks hook, line and sinker, haven't you?

The "hated" HRA only enables breaches of the European Convention on Human Rights (which the UK has been a signatory to since 1953, having pretty much written it single-handed) to be tried in UK courts, rather than the European Court of Human Rights. You know, those UK courts which would be enforcing breaches of a "British Bill of Rights"... The EConvHR is nothing to do with the EU at all, and we're bound to it by our membership of the Council of Europe, together with 46 other countries, including Russia. The only countries in geographical Europe which aren't CoE members are Kazakhstan, Belarus and the Vatican - and they want to be, but two of them have too bad a record of abuses and torture, and the third doesn't quite get the "religious freedom" bit. Perhaps you'd like to tell us which of the convention articles you think are so terrible that we should expect Putin and his ilk to abide by, but the UK government won't or can't abide by...?

International obligations to refugees are enshrined in UN conventions - again, nothing to do with the EU or the ECHR/HRA.

"2015 was also a significant year for the expansion of the company’s manufacturing footprint to support continued growth, most recently with the announcement that Jaguar Land Rover will be the first British carmaker to open a manufacturing facility in Slovakia. 2015 saw significant progress with the construction of Jaguar Land Rover’s first manufacturing plant in Brazil; local production of the Land Rover Discovery Sport will commence there in 2016. During the year the company announced the doubling of the size of its UK Engine Manufacturing Plant and confirmed that it had agreed a manufacturing partnership with Magna Steyr to build some future vehicles in Graz, Austria."
