Hexagon bought that white M3 with just under 2k miles on it from a guy in Ireland IIRC. Paid £20k for it.
How long ago though? I'm sure its been up for sale for 3+ yearsMattOz said:
It's certainly over 3 years. Hexagon couldn't sell the car at £29k, then £35k then £39k. Seems that if something isn't selling, you'd best put the price up.
LOL - Well it worked with the Z8.As they say if you want to make something more exclusive in a stroke... put the price up.

One day I can see these E46 M3s at high prices, once the high-mileage skipped maintenance fodder disappears and over time these will be regarded as the last of timeless design BMWs that were fairly understated yet very good clean design and purposeful - not to mention a 6-cylinder n/a (not in this case - ) manual RWD performance car that isn't a 911.
We aren't at this day yet.
This was my thought, classic car prices without actually being a classic car yet. We aren't at this day yet.
Maybe in 20-30 year time but this is idiot money.
I have an E36 EVO (since 2012) and have seen the cr4p slowly disappear off the market and the condition of what's for sale get better. When fewer of something (good) is on the road and the stock that is is better then prices will rise. (In the mean-time, mine's a keeper which is fun to throw around the country lanes!!!)

The E36 is the awkward middle child, it could shoot up in value, or just slum around 10k, although I'm sure I'm not the only one who remembers them at 3-5k just a few years back.
The M3 is utter madness in my opinion. Too close to the price of a new one, for heavens sake. (Turbocharger, moan, etc not withstanding).
But the two 330i's - not too crazy I wouldn't say. They are brand new cars, in many ways, for 20k. If you look at your other options at that money, you could be looking at an Ex Demo Mk7 GTI. 6 cylinder, RWD, timeless design or shopping box with a 4 banger. Yes, if you use it it will depreciate wildly - but so will the GTI. I think if I was in the market for a semi-practical, no hassle, slightly interesting car at this money, I'd consider it.

Its not just Hexagon and BMW's which TBH are fairly run of the mill high production cars.the supercar market is even more insane especially Ferrari's. I sold my mint 2009 F430 spider F1 over 3 years ago with 10k on the clock for £85k, today the same car with double the mileage is up for £120k ????? MADNESS
458's and speciales are even worse. The only supercars that seem sensibly priced are McLarens. 12c and 650S are superior products to Ferrari but you don't pay the stupid prancing horse premiums.
My guess is at the rate the McLaren brand is growing their early products in low production volumes will become future classics and can be stolen at the prices today

The m3 is basically a new one. If you'd consider an E46 330i at 20k it stands to reason someone would consider the M3 at 50k - more so as it is collectible and renowned. The 330i isn't really either. But the two 330i's - not too crazy I wouldn't say. They are brand new cars, in many ways, for 20k. For the record I wouldn't want the M3 at that sort of price

If it was ever actually used, it'd depreciate faster than a new car as it would loose the only thing that makes it "worth" that sort of money.
Exactly. Fine, in a way, if you've got serious money to burn, but is the richest E46 M3 fan really going to be into this sort of thing?Put 50k miles on it in a couple of of years and the lovely salesman at Hexagon will either refuse to take it or give you 10 grand.
This will be one of those examples that's passed about to several owners and without turning a wheel using petrol. Look back on here 10 years time and it will crop up at £100k with the same miles...mark my words!!

That white M3 has been for sale there since the time of the Ark
Paul Michaels is seriously minted*, and is old and wise enough to know that there is a buyer for everything. He operates from a part of the country dripping with wealth and he's in no hurry to sell anything. He also knows that to multi millionaire car nuts, 50 grand is small change - and ultra low mileage is everything.Look at a Ford/Kia price list and tell me £25'000 is a lot of money for a car. It ain't!
- he's probably on his yacht as I write this.
