The kind of noise that precedes the invasion of a small country, I would expect.
Speaking of noises that invade countries, a German Panther Tank fitted with a Maybach HL230 engine sounds fantastic.
Not strictly a car, but can be driven on the road and carry 5 people.

Yes, you're right, especially the Pantera's and the Matra. Shame the Matra V12 wasn't used in their roadcars!

It's nowhere near my favourite but I think huge credit should go to Jaguar for both the V6 and V8 engines in the F-Type because they are ASTONISHINGLY noisy for modern road car engines

Not even sure how they're legal but damned glad they are...

and

There are tuned aftermarket exhausts on far more expensive cars which don't have a fraction of the 'holy st how loud is that' ;0
V6 sounds so much nicer than the V8

I remember watching their headers glow bright Orange in the dark at Les Mans back in the day.
They were the best sounding car on the track and you didn't need to look to know they were going passed.
Awesome.

Aston Martin GTE cars at Le Mans. Just astonishing.
If your answer isn't this, or the Corvette, then (IMHO) it's wrong.

There will be some influence of the occasion, I'm sure - but I've never had my breath taken away quite the way it was when I saw/heard two Astons and a Corvette at full chat almost nose to tail.
It makes the hair on my neck stand up just thinking about it...

Since this is the favourite car sound ever, not the favourite sounding car, what about the satisfying clunk of the door on a Rolls Royce closing.
Any particularly good horns? I like the ones with the rubber bulb.

when your campervan starts on a Sunday morning, having been parked up from Friday night, but you've been using its electric all weekend.

silence when you turn your engine off and don't have to drive anywhere.

am I doing it right ?
