Have there been any reports of the front disc's warping on the post 2002 Cherokee's after the upgrade ? Mines a 2004.

Maybe I'm imagining it, but I thought I "sense" a little vibration on the brake peddle when braking. MOT guy says it needs new pads soon but disc's were OK (as in a MOT pass ok), so while I'm there I could pop in new disc's too.

The ones on mine when I bought it 5 years ago were worn, but fine with no apparent warping. I changed them and put EBC discs on, these are now on about 60k and still absolutely fine.

I've not heard of any issues - and I've read a lot of online info, could it be something else is worn such as ball joints, bearings etc which could have enough play to cause a shimmy which isn't coming from the brakes rather than the wheel due to geometry?

Thanks for your feedback. I went for another drive yesterday down the M4 and now I cant feel anything, maybe I was imaginging it or it was a poor road surface.
If the discs look ok to me I'll just pop in new pads for now.

In general discs do not warp. Most, if not all the time, it is simply a build up of pad material on the brake, often because they have not been correctly bedded in when new. Can sometimes be sorted by high speed use of the brakes to heat up and burn/scrape off the small amount of pad material adhering to the brakes.

It's not impossible for discs to warp, but it's certainly a very rare thing. Almost every time it's just uneven build up from the pads. Or occasionally a runout issue.

Went to fit the new pads yesterday only to find Euro car parts sent me the wrong items !!
Got to send them back today, but it did allow me to check the disc's and notice a little wear developing, but also some heavy rust on the outer edges. Not light surface stuff, but like its been at the bottom of the ocean type rust.
There 5 years and 40K miles old anyway. So I've ordered new Padgid disc's as well for £60.

Hope there here for next weekend, its getting a bit cold working outside now.

At £60 that is sensible. Don't forget to bed in the new kit properly, with a few heat cycles through the brakes, big stops are ideal.

Well Euro-car parts don't seem to have another part number for these pads, so I'm just getting a refund. Have to shop elsewhere for the correct pads.

Now I'm worried the disc's I've ordered from them will not be correct ?

When Jeep upgraded the Front brakes in 2002, was it just the calliper's that changed or the disc's as well ?

Had new discs and pads fitted to my wife's 2004 2.7 CRD Grand. Was done at Halfords autocentre locally to me a few years ago. Cannot remember prices but there was no issue with parts. Try calling a Jeep garage with the car VIN and get the part numbers from them?

I may have to go to Jeep if Euro car parts fail again.
From what I've read on the net they only talk of new style calliper's for the 2002 models onwards or being retro fitted to older WJ's, no mention of different size discs (Or Rotors as the say over the pond).
They say the Callipers caused the Rotors to warp, not that the rotors were bad design.

Just the callipers, and obviously pads. AFAIA the disc stayed the same.

Had a result at the Euro car parts dealer last night. Got my refund for the wrong pads, told him the problem so he searched his system and found the correct ones, which he had in stock !!
Plus he checked and there is only 1 part number listed for the disc's, so the ordered items should be correct when they arrive.

Much more help than their customer service phone line.

Calipers are either Teves or Akebono's - discs are all the same and the Akebonos are the upgrade calipers.

I still have the Teves on my 4.7v8 and tbh I think they're OK.
