Your car wasn't featured on Jamie_FYD's YouTube channel was it?

Haha, I wish mine was that one. 435ish BHP would be awesome!

  • EDIT* to add about the remapped ST comment. Guess what, no its not (at legal speeds anyway). The Focus ST's KKK turbo can't hold boost at high revs once remapped. The remap gives a massive whallop of torgue low down and then it dies off quick. The mapped car cannot get the power down in 1st and 2nd (that's why stock its torque limited). I have tried it with my ST remapped against a well driven FN2 and I could not get past it. On the corners, it was quicker. The FN2's delivery is very linear, so it can get power down on the corners much easier than a remapped ST, (even without the STs nose heavy handling). The ST with a remap is more a point and squirt car.

I have to chip in, I suspect you had bad tyres on your Focus as I can put power down just fine in my MK2 ST with stage 2 mods, in the dry at least in both 1st and 2nd.
It's considerably faster than the FN2 when rolling as well, my mate at work has one and I've proved that time after time (although the Civics handling is in a different league). Just to balance things up, there.
Tyres were bridgestone potenza's with good tread. I tried several different maps too. I found the dreamscience race maps were just too aggressive boost wise. Even in the dry it would spin up. The superchips bluefin map was better but still did it. The only map I could use okay in the lower gears was the dreamscience perf+ map.

From what I recall on a straight the FN2 would keep up with my mapped ST until it got into 3rd gear and then the ST would pull away slightly, but you'd be into illegal speeds soon after. This is of course assuming the FN2 driver is in the right gear. In the wrong gear the ST will of course leave it for dead with its torque.

I'm running Eagle F1s which I found work quite well with the Focus (not tried Bridgestones), I also have an uprated lower gearbox torque mount though which helps put the power down (Bluefin stage 2) so maybe that's the difference. Otherwise I agree about the FN2, I did think it was an underrated car having done quite a few miles in my mates one.

£3.5k seems like a good price. I am selling mine at the mo with 70k miles on it.

Dc2 rust....

I know bodywork is a difficult thing to price but roughly how much would it cost to sort out rear arch rust on a dc2, both sides worse case scenario?

Ahhh I bought one last year as a bit of a daily run-around. I completely agree on it being a challenge finding a stock one.

I opted for a Silver (low maintenance colour for daily) Facelift, 2004 with 88K miles at the time, and Honda SH up until the last 2.

The last owner had the car for 9 years - which i like! Don't get me wrong, it's got a few bumps and scuffs, but i wanted one like this so i didn't get as precious as i normally do about them.

Completely standard....although i have fitted 3x Fast-Road Vibratechnics engine mounts for added fun.

Hell, it even still has the original Honda dealer sticker in the rear window.

Plan is to keep it stock and use it as intended......I love the basic nature of the car and the way you just jump in and drive - no fancy toys....just an engine, seat, steering wheel and awesome little gearbox.

Bargain fun!
