Any car, if i want to go faster than you please make it easy for me. I will in turn repay the favour and when you catch me i will signal left when safe let you move out and then come off the throttle to help you pass.

Shame 95% of the drivers do not see things the same way.

There's a road near me that is a 25mph limit. No junctions for 2 miles. Most people drive it far faster than that.
Over took a Merc C200d a few days ago, who was dawdling at under the 25mph limit. He then tried to chase me the 4 miles into town biggrin Quite why he went from being in no hurry whatsoever to wanting to chase me down, I have no idea.
25mph limit?

Advisory only.
Yes, but what's wrong with taking the advice and driving at 25mph?

Very unfair to learners. By definition they will be driving cautiously, even slower than an APIS member blocking a closing lane.

Maybe, just maybe, he's capable of judging a safe speed better than an inanimate object displaying an arbitrary number?

Yesterday I was behind a Mk1 Renault 5 as I drove through the Verdon national park. He was going no faster than 50kph, but the body roll in the corners was a sight to behold.

I passed as soon as the bends allowed, and left him far behind, only to see him pootle slowly up behind me at some roadworks.

If it's displaying 25 then it won't matter.

A few years ago I used to have an 8 mile commute along what should have been a reasonably enjoyable twisty A road, but EVERY single morning my progress would be ruined about halfway along my journey by some tt driving a stty old red cavalier doing precisely 38mph, the ugly chain smoking hag driving it would frequently gesticulate at me whenever I did manage to overtake her.

After a couple of years I moved house to a village a bit closer to work... guess who my new next door neighbour turned out to be?!

Huh?

I wasn't having a dig at learners I was simply answering the OP 'Top three cars that if your behind as you get to your favorite section of road your heart sinks'.

Do you really fancy doing 34 mph (or less) in a NSL?

Because they'll either dodder along at 42mph or be driven by a complete lunatic by someone who is normally seen on Police Interceptors insisting the ANPR must be mistaken.

Honda Jazz has to win this.
Mrs was stuck behind one going through the lanes en route to Alton Towers on Sunday.
1 overtaking point there seemed to be in about 15 minutes of driving and there was a car coming the other way.
Worst 15 minutes of my life.

A greeny blue Nissan Almere.

Always driven by people who hate cars and driving.

This has been said already but it just has to be a Honda Jazz. other examples are cars this forum dislikes, but Jazz is a good car in wrong hands.

Guess which car I was stuck behind after starting this thread...

A dark blue Honda Jazz

Also has anyone ever seen a well driven Vauxhall Zafira?

I'm not convinced it is advisory. Looks like properly signed 25mph to me.

The problem with following the advice is that it is wide enough and safe enough for a little hoon, but due to previous idiots not being able to stay on the road they have been convinced to lower the speed limit and spend a small fortune on barriers and street furniture. I could drive the whole road only dipping below double the speed limit briefly at two corners, and without feeling in any danger.

So, I'll change my answer. If you are going to follow an advisory 25mph that almost nobody follows due to its idiocy then I wouldn't want to follow you.

I don't think it's any particular model of car the dawdlers drive it's their total inability to look in the rear view mirror and see the dozen or so drivers they are holding up, but I also blame the fkwits that sit behind them and won't overtake.

Yesterday I came across one on a mile long straight sitting at 40ish with an other car planted on its arse but wouldn't overtake it took an instant to pass both them.

Overtaking is one of the pleasures of driving anything with an engine Christ knows why more drivers don't do it.

I'm fairly sure you can't have a speed limit ending in 5.

I'm also fairly sure I couldn't quote the relevant information to back that up. biggrin
