RE: Nissan Skyline GT-R (R34) NISMO Z-Tune: Spotted
Discussion
I'm glad no one is trying to downplay how special this thing is, very few people criticise how special the Honda NSX is, I don't think I've seen a single person criticise an NSX-R and where a 'normal' R34 GT-R isn't quite as special as a 'normal' NSX, this Z-Tune is Nismo going into the tiniest details in the same way the 'R' division did for the NSX-R.
How about this?

I'd never heard of it before but seems a decent alternative on a "budget"?

No denying how special this car is... but for half the price would rather buy an R34 and convert it to Clubman Race spec through Nismo and have all of the advantages of the R35 bits Nismo can fit...

Phwoar, I agree here. The Z-Tune is an icon, but it's an icon that I'd be too terrified to use on the roads 99% of the time. If I had the money I'd grab the Z-Tune for taking to Goodwood, Le Mans, special events etc... and have the OEM updated version for racking up regular miles.http://www.speedhunters.com/2014/09/gtr-for-the-st...

The best looking skyline ever made IMO, a proper beast.
Completely agree. The world would be boring if we all liked the same things!
All wrong, the V36 skyline is hands down the best looking.
Completely disagree! An R32 GTR in 'Calsonic' blue or an R33 GTR in Midnight Purple are soooooo much more attractive to my eyes! The front of the R34 is superb, but the back end just doesn't work for me.
The world would be boring if we all liked the same things!R33 GTR in MP for me! Rear proportions on the R34 don't sit right with me.

So Nissan take a second hand GTR 34,tune it and the result is a 500HP tuned R34 GTR but now at a cost of £450k or alternatively,ATTKD, Hosaka, Mines etc take a used R34 and do a much better and more comprehensive tuning job costing circa 85k just for the build alone excluding the car, HP around 750 and handling to die for, result is a much more competent and quicker car than the Z Tune with a price tag circa 65-70k all in
Now which one does it make sense to buy ?

For driving I'd agree something like a Mines car will be as good if not better but you have to remember this is effectively a factory refresh so it will have that added Kudos. Plus I don't think people realise just how extensive the work done is, they almost take the car down to bare metal. Of course the final figure is reflective of the exclusivity more than just the work done.

You do realise that the Z Tune was only around 90K when originally sold and it's only because of it's immense desirability in an age of crazy car pricing that they command the money that they do when they come up for sale? Now which one does it make sense to buy ?

It's like the bloke down the road from me who's just spent a fortune on a 1967 Porsche 911 - he could have got a brand new Golf R that is quicker and has satnav and that for much less. He's an idiot. Now which one does it make sense to buy ?
