I emailed them to cancel my sub, but they also said to go and cancel my dd which is a bit annoying.
They said exactly the same to me.

I'm at the stage now where I look forward to Modern Classics every month now more than Evo.
Totally agree. This month's EVO is a major disappointment as compared with last month (which was a proper return to form).

not related to evo but anyone remember redline magazine? used to love reading it as a youth
I do remember it but rarely used to buy it. Preferred Revs mag out of that sector, especially in its early years

Enjoyed this months, think the fast fleet was good! with a large pro ceed send off, certainly not exotica! The modified 2 series was also great.

I personally want to read about the super/hyper cars with a smattering of real world cars added in! I just don't get why people on this forum buy modern classics? Its all stuff I've read on here a few times, however with PH the owners are writing it!

Not read the article on RUF yet but from the skoda (another attainable car) readers cars section seems they will have a few articles on tuners coming up!

I am not actually bothered by the m3 v m4 article as they have been written about plenty already and they are probably the least attainable cars in the mag.

its probably an age thing Josh. Not sure how old you are but if like me you started driving in the 80s or 90s, then Modern Classics pulls at the nostalgia heartstrings. A lot of the cars in Modern Classics were in the early issues of EVO. I purchased EVO from issue 1 and I can tell you that for the first two years there was a nice balance of exotica and affordable stuff. Some-time in the mid or late 2000s, the mag became very exotica biased, which is fine for people like you who enjoy that stuff, but its alienated a core of long standing readers like me who want to have a decent mix of affordable and exotic. The title "the thrill of driving" should cover all types of performance car.

And yet only last month we had a Buying Guide for the Honda Civic Type-R.

I am mid 20's so see your point! Do you see my point about many of the cars being on here though?

However ecoty this year featured a few affordable cars. In the last issue a mini clubman was reviewed. The Kia range had a few pages. Last issue was about fast french hatchbacks.

I am not a day 1 subscriber however have been subscribed 5 years now, I am going to go back and have a look at a few of the older issues, will probably seem like a different mag!

This is good news, I've liked his writing and videos in the past.

I'm a subscriber for almost 15 years - just cancelled frown

Too many of my favourite writers no longer involved, i'm not 'as excited' by future new cars and I was left very disappointed by the voting at ecoty 2016 - it lacked focus on 'the thrill of driving'.

Thankfully, I have a library of many, many fantastic past issues/articles to keep me entertained - thank you evo.

Got hold of a load of Evo magazines from another PH'r , flicking through them I can't believe how close they are in content to each other , I feel sorry for the folk who have subscribed over the years , good money wasted imho.

I've decided to get rid of all my back-issues. Not sure I'm not missing a couple here and there, but I've subscribed for years and I never re-read them so they're just taking up space.

Maybe I'm being blind but I can never find any mention of when the next edition comes out.

Could that be because potentially every issue could be the last issue?

I found this thread after having just collected issue 229 from my newsagent. Yep...here in NZ we get the UK mags 2 or 3 months late (probably freighted over on the back of a whale or something)

So I open my latest Evo which happens to be Ecoty 2016 and read that Henry, Hunter and Sam are leaving. Oh dear. I enjoy Henry's writing style muchly and so I decide to look into where he has gone...

Drive tribe. Wow. What a mess. I install the app and spend an hour sifting through lots of arty photos of cars that are often either too expensive and unobtainable for me or they look like static items never driven. There were some beauts in there but between the photos the writing just seemed too...trendy/hipster. I felt like I had stumbled upon some surf styled car magazine blended with instagram hashtags.

Harsh? Maybe. Its early times yet. But for now I'll stick with Evo. I realise Evo is not exactly filled with attainable cars.. but that's probably because I re-coil at the thought of spending more then 2000 squid on a car. My main two cars are Vauxhall Vivas..

But I love reading about what its like to drive something amazing! The best writers will hopefully transport me there. Evo usually does this pretty well and the gems among the usual bmw/porsche fodder are worth my monthly buy. Yeah I can see it all with sounds and sights on youtube but my wifi doesnt reach the toilet and I spend enough time getting square eyes posting on forums. I don't believe good magazines are dead yet- not here in NZ where decent 3g mobile coverage does not extend far beyond the city limits. I can scrunch my magazine into the bottom of my pack and read it on the veranda of a hut in the middle of nowhere after a days hiking. I like the feel of turning pages. When finished reading I can leave the magazine for others to enjoy, as do they for me.

Now back to Evo so I can see which Porsche wins this time....

The only PH reaction to Drive Tribe I've previously noticed seemed to be generally positive until people began to fixate on the fact a Facebook account was required. Quite a few people seemed to view that as a deal breaker. I suppose it's a change from the usual anonymity associated with forums but i was surprised how many people refused to entertain losing this.

I stopped subscribing to EVO a few years ago having been with them from issue one.

I was one of the first to subscribe to Drivetribe before they even launched but don't think I've bothered to log on since.

PH is about my only motoring fix and I usually bypass the front pages and go straight to the forums - tis the way of the internet.

It's taken longer than I expected but I feel it's now digital media only for motoring enthusiasts - GT/TG, PH/D_TRB & YT.

Gone are the days of great writing/journalism - it's now about short-attention-span, cocking about & 'screaming/giggling' etc...

Perhaps i'm wrong, hopefully.
