But the busso has been going since 79! So not really modern it died in 2005 to be replaced with this
Not too bad but no where near as attractive
Granted, can't hold a candle to the Busso BUT it's called a 'twin phaser' which immediately makes it just briliant!!!!Not too bad but no where near as attractive

Not a modern engine, but I always liked the look of the Jaguar straight six, as used in the E-Type. to me it looks a `bit' like a merlin in miniature.
Porsche engines are superb bits of engineering, but they look like the innards of a washing machine. Not a problem though because in most Porsches, the engine is not really visible whilst it is in the car.

I can't decide if the new Triumph Truxton engine is cool or naff, but I think it looks quite good. It retains the look of an air cooled bike, with fins on the block and a dummy carburettor. In reality, it's water cooled (so doesn't sound authentic) and it has a really neatly packaged radiator at the front, designed to be inconspicuous. That said, knowing Triumph, those cooling fins may be handy but not in traffic, where Triumphs tend to get hot!
Wow, remember when you could open your bonnet and see the ground underneath the engine?
+1 for the Busso - a lovely engine in all respects including visual. The 147 GTA was a car that would have financially ruined me if a mate hadn't bought one first - I learned from his experience that they were not cars for a chap on a budget!
