You don't half work yourself up into a lather at times, its a asking price, not a selling price, if it does indeed generate anywhere near that amount I'd be doing a wtf too, but until then ......

I remember not too long ago 2007 ish you could get these for well under £20k. Now £50k is the entry if you can find one.

Limited supply due to small number's produced and even less around now due to natural wastage shocker ...

Cult car though, seen the prices of old fast fords of late?

But at these prices it's above the E32 3.8 Ltr Nurburgring limited edition which given it was inferior to the M5 is odd.

How a car fared in comparison tests against another car when it was launched has little to do with it's valuation now, especially in this insane market.

I think you mean the E34 3.8L? I had one of those, with the Nurburg option, and it was a magnificent car, but it would never have the street cred of an LC, and wouldn't be as quick

Prices of B10 BiTurbos are fairly hefty these days though

That car is a bit unique iin that it has always been listed at a seriously marked up price for many years. Its current jump to the latest price just reflects the rise in "real" costs of the rest of the cars.

Don't believe the owner has any real intention of selling as its just a marketing ploy for his garage. Obviously a policy that works as its got the OP raising a thread and creating discussion.

That's the one - one of the best looking road cars IMHO.

Indeed, or old 911s - 6 figure sums are the norm for some of the 80 s ones

Like you, I'm surprised he's surprised about this

Especially as he's not been living under a rock for the last 5 years

I'm surprised due to the fact they were mid to high £20's only the other year now £100k asking. I'm surprised as it's way ahead of the E34 3.8ltr Nurburgring edition which is madness

10+ years ago it was something like £49,995 when others were £20,000 so looks like he has just doubled it! It really has been for sale for ever smile

It's a one-off price though for a low mileage one? You can still get one for much less.

E.T.A. Here you go - buy 2 off this link http://www.carandclassic.co.uk/list/29/carlton/

Similar to when a low mileage E30 M3 went for 60k a few years back....you could still get one for 30k or less

Or the low mileage S1 RS Turbo that had a bidding war to 60k ........you can still get an S1 RS for a third or less of that

Also, you have to bear in mind it's being asked for......the 100k.....hasn't achieved it yet

Confining the comparison to front wheel drive RS Fords, I don't understand why anyone would buy a S1 Escort Turbo over a MK2 Focus RS....

This garage has had this car for at least 10 years.

It was £29,000 about 6-8 years ago and then increased over the years.

Perhaps he wants to keep it unless he gets an offer he can't refuse hence the price tag.

Where did you advertise that, I have been looking for the right LC for sometime and have just bought one. If I had seen one for sale at £30k with 40k miles I would have ripped your arm off...

Prices have gone a bit silly recently.
3x 205GTIs have sold between 23 and 30k each earlier this year.

Looks like this thread may have resulted in a LC purchase that's what PH is all about.

bd Child is going to be £30k up rolling into Xmas happy days
