I disagree there, it looks like a bulbous turd.
On the plus side for you, chances are you'll only ever see the back of one as it disappears into the distance ahead of you....
I don't think thats going to happen at all, sorry smile
I would suggest you dont drive the only one with a pups chance - the escort - all of the time, so i stand by what i said, chances are you'll only ever see the back of one as it disappears into the distance.

I guess though your views on car looks could be taken a lot more seriously if your car history didnt include Volvos and Almeras.

This is a pretty silly thing to say.

I'm with the guy that said the best hot hatch is the one you like most. There are loads of great ones out there. Someone might love a Megane or Golf R, I don't. Its all subjective.

Civic Type R, Focus RS, Megane Cup and Seat Leon R are all sweet hot hatches.

I totally agree.

However if someone describes a car that i own as a bulbous turd then i will push back on that.

The thread so far has been fairly reasoned, if someone wants to get in to childish name calling then they need to expect to be challenged on it.

Frankly, its unnecessary.

A subject post is "i dont like A45s." An offensive post is "your car looks like a bulbous turd"

Indeed. Its by no means the "perfect" car, and it wouldnt suit everyone.

No formal pics yet, but ours is identical to this....

The current ST is a damned good car aye, I'd say it's the biggest problem the Suzuki faces TBH, just a few grand more gets you into an ST.
I'd say their biggest problem is that they are selling a car that's as long in the tooth as a Grande Punto.

Unfortunately, by the time they update it (next year) they'll have probably ruined what made it good in the first place.

I think thats some sort of limited edition they did - its a pre-facelift car though.

I'm getting too old to carry that look off, but i can see how it might appeal to some.

True, it is getting on in years - I didn't know a replacement was in the pipeline either. I'll have to keep an eye on that, if they stick to what makes the current one great, but add a bit more oomph, it could be interesting indeed.

It'll probably end up with a small turbo engine though, such is life! frown

Rumours are it could use some sort of 1.0 ... similar to the 1.0 ecoboost in the rest of the range frown

The kind of petty comment that only a defensive owner would make wink

Having looked at that Escort, I think a 'pups chance' is way off the mark. A45's are good.. but not that good.

Yes absolutely.

And why shouldnt someone defend their car from insults?

Just to stop the bickering - I actually reckon the A45 AMG is a very potent and highly capable hot hatch, but I don't think it looks aesthetically pretty (although it doesn't look terrible either).

Because it's not your child. Some people won't like it will they? Loads of people probably don't like mine, but hey ho, I do.

I have no issues that people don't like the car or any others I have / have owned.

Throwing insults around is unneccessary and didn't add anything to the debate.

The King of the Hot Hatches has been the Megane RS which still came out on top of the tree when put up against:

Focus RS Golf R Civic Type R Focus ST GTI etc then the Trophy R Version of the Megane beat the Golf Clubsport S so I'd consider that the King of Hot Hatches & it's a Three door.

If you want smaller then the Fiesta ST takes it with the 208 a close second & no Polo GTI in sight (sorry Joe) it all depends on what you class as a hot hatch.
All this talk about number of doors and no-one (to my knowledge) has mentioned number of seats.
As per the EVO test last month where the winning car (Golf Clubsport) and the Megane had no rear seats then that, for me, excludes them from the test. A "hot hatch" should be the mad version of the everyday car your mum would drive. Making it a two seater puts it in a whole other category for me.
