I think thats some sort of limited edition they did - its a pre-facelift car though.

I'm getting too old to carry that look off, but i can see how it might appeal to some.
AMG do an edition 1 of all their new models (its on the number plate), they chuck some stickers and a few options and charge a huge premium for it

and how old are you? i would have no problems with the aero kit, all thou i would go for a dark colour as it suites the car better IMO

I'm sure we could all debate on what a hot hatch is. Some might feel that many of the current crop are too expensive & turbed to be one. And that a hot hatch should be revvy and affordable. In this instance I'm going for the suzuki swift sport.
I tend to agree with you, or maybe a fiesta ST?

whilst the Focus, Megan and Golf are brilliant machines, I don't consider them "hot hatches" as I am only enough to remember what a "Hot Hatch" was when they came out in the early 80s!

The Focus / megane size cars are just too big and bulky, expensive to buy and run,to be true hot hatch king. Which is why the Swift is a valid choice.

Have they done an edition 1 of the facelift model?

We bought new but the dealer never mentioned it's current existence.

We wanted a more subtle look anyway - the stickers and the aero pack wouldn't really have fitted with that.

Yes might work better in a darker colour.

47.

My hot hatch of choice would probably be the fiesta st if it had to be new.

Used, a clio 200 cup would be on my radar too. I'd a 197 earlier in the year, great car except for the synchromesh in the gearbox being made out of chocolate.

You can get a 2012 clio 200 cup for under £9k which IMHO is amazing value

However if someone describes a car that i own as a bulbous turd then i will push back on that.

The thread so far has been fairly reasoned, if someone wants to get in to childish name calling then they need to expect to be challenged on it.

Frankly, its unnecessary.

A subject post is "i dont like A45s." An offensive post is "your car looks like a bulbous turd"
It's a f*cking car, not your wife.
Stop behaving like such a hysterical tart. If someone thinks your car is ugly, they've got every right to express their opinion without worrying that you might burst a blood vessel.

Personally, I think it's hideous. But, it's undeniably the most potent hot hatch available at the moment - and for that reason, I can't see any reason why it shouldn't be "king".

However, given the fashionable PH malaise about "new cars"/"these days" and such, it's encouraging that we should have so many potential options to discuss.

I vote Renault 265. it's honest, lively and fun (and a hatchback...)

For me the focus size car is most definitely a hot hatch. I also don't view the swift as a hot hatch, warm maybe, but not hot. But hey it would be a boring world if we all thought the same things.

The Megane and Fiesta are the pick of the bunch in my view.

Surely Ford have this covered at the moment!

Only just read the OP, so taking that context into account, I would stand by the Fiesta ST, as it's probably the best small hot hatch out there right now and a relative bargain. I'm a little biased but if practicality is not a major issue, there are also probably not many hot hatches more fun than a MINI Cooper S JCW. Both will have the turbocharged muscle that your car lacks but are both still excellent handlers. My wife used to have a regular Fiat 500 and it was a great little car and undoubtedly the Abarth 595 has massive showroom appeal and feel good factor but I doubt would handle as well as a MINI.

Golf GTI and Focus ST are both excellent all-rounders but more fast, practical cars for families than focussed hot hatches in my opinion. In the context of the thread, the car that's going to handle as well as your Clio whilst offering significantly more go and greater practicality would be the outgoing Megane 265/275 Cup, so that's probably the hot hatch King for drivers who want to have FUN rather than just go really fast right now smile

My son just bought this 2012 Clio 200 Cup, 33K miles.

Cracking car for the money. Amazing value.

Yes i'd a 197 and a 172 earlier in the year and we were very impressed. The 200 gets the improved gearbox with synchromesh that isnt made out of chocolate too.

It may not be the fastest or best handling out there but the current three door Golf GTi looks just about a perfect to me.

I'am lucky enough to be able to buy any of the current hot hatches but choose to drive a Swift Sport it reminds me of my 80's hot hatches, it ticks all the classic hot hatch wants its fitted with some go faster bits tailgate spoiler, wider wheels, sporty seats, twin exhausts and a proper n/a engine that revs to 7k it's no road rocket but it's an absolute hoot to throw down a B road...the new model is going to be a turbo...fk.
