Our 13yr old lad has managed to snap the button mechanism on one of our suitcases, it's a hard black plastic lever.

Is there any glue that will do the job, if so which one? Don't want to waste money on products that won't touch it.

If it's a decent make like Samsonite I'd enquire about spare parts; as far as glues go I'd try a solvent type like polyweld, although there are polymers that solvents just won't touch.

It came from M&S a few years ago so spares probably not an option.

Not the end of the world if I can't fix it, just seems a shame to waste so ething with years of life left in it for such a minor issue.

Buy a new suitcase.
Do you really want to be stuck on holiday with all your clothes locked in the bag or worse all your clothes over the baggage belt because the button snapped of in the hold of the plane

I've only ever found Superglue to be good at sticking fingers together.

Seriously though, although I might try araldite if I had any, buy another suitcase smile

See if you can reinforce the lever by sticking something to the back of it. Like a splint.

That thought had occurred to me but:

It's only the button to retract the handle so case will still open!

Get a couple of suitably sized nails. Cut the heads off/trim to size. Slot one in each of the long cavities shown in the photo and smother with glue.

Bit of mild steel or aluminium (aloooominum if you can't manage the correct pronunciation). Angle grind and file to shape, couple of drilled holes and it's the strongest part of the entire case.

Multi purpose gorilla glue seems to work very well on most things I've tried it on.
