Worth getting a Bluetooth/WiFi OBD2 dongle and the Carista app. This allows you to do diagnostics and some adaptations (alarm beep, lights, locking etc).

Thanks for the info. All appreciated.

600 miles in and really enjoying what it can do on the back roads after a lot of motorway time. Cracking all rounder. Need to sort the stereo as no Bluetooth and DAB is a pain in the @ss.

One more tip:

Some TFSI engines seen to burn a lot of oil. Not necessarily a problem but you need to check oil levels regularly and keep on top of it.

My Mk 2 Octavia was one of those, a half litre per 1-2 months was not uncommon. Ran it from 40,000 miles to 120,000 miles without incident.

Always used Shell Helix Ultra oil.

Looks the same as my old one - though I had cloth interior.

Yes they can guzzle the oil, and I got the sense they aren't as robust as the public perception, with interiors that can wear, some niggly sensor issues, weak aircon system so a few things to keep on top of but with regular servicing and preventative maintenance will be fine.
