One of my all-time favourites is the In-Car 911 DVD of Roger Clark/Ian Grindrod driving the Rothmans Porsche 911 SC RS on the 1984 Lombard RAC Rally.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B0gKMGJHVCU

Dave Richards' Prodrive operation was running these cars on selected WRC events at the time but it's perhaps fair to say that Clark drew the short straw in having to wrestle and thread a typically tail-happy 1980's 911 on the one WRC round on which pace notes were banned. After all, 911's usually like to know where they're going before they get there, don't they?!

Throw in the other 911 characteristic of those days (as in "Now, am I going to understeer or oversteer going into/coming out of this bend?) and you'll understand how Roger had his work cut out over this five-day, all-loose-surface event. The link included is the rather gloomy Grizedale Forest stage (all I could find on YouTube) but others on the DVD occur in sunshine and show off Clark's immense skill to better effect. The 911 was certainly nothing akin to those nimble and predictable Ford RS Escorts which Roger helped develop! Not the fastest piece of driving you'll see perhaps but probably some of the most taxing.

That race was beyond epic (mind you, Vale vs Stoner at Laguna later that year wasn't far off)

Being part of this was just a dream cloud9
The logistics behind this, getting so many Supercar owners together for this event was simply Awesome.

Thanks Jay.

Yes. Fantastic film. Actually better than the Cannonball run.

For me, teo of the greatest ever are;

Mark Blundells 1990 Le Mans qualifying lap in a 1100bhp Nissan monster, which is stupefying and terrifying in equal parts.
Iirc the team bosses had told him to come him, as the car was over-boosting an in danger of exploding. Instead, he pulled out the radio plug and gave it the beans, probably just to prove a point, wrestling a relatively poor car onto pole.

Then I would recommend Peter Brocks qualifying lap the following year at Mt Panorama for the Bathurst Tooheys 1000; absolutely stunning driving, right on the edge, and the car was described by one of the commentators as 'dancing better than Fred Astaire'.
Just watch the explosions of unburnt hydrocarbons on each upward gear-shift, or alternatively avert your eyes if you're a Greenpeace supporter

If you've never watched either of the above, or even if you have, put aside under 10mins of your life, and treat yourself to two of the most awesome and exhilarating pieces of driving of all time.... You know you want to!!!!!
(Btw, I don't know how to attach the URL for each clip, so please forgive me!!)
My favourite of Brock was the live in car interview;
https://youtu.be/5SE5fk4vXYU
"If I get it right I can go through here and keep it flat. It's a bit of a worry but Moffat thinks I'm crazy doing it, but you can!"
Who drives an H pattern around mt panorama with one arm out the window?

For those who haven't seen it, here's Brocky's lap rtz62 was on about

I never get bored of watching this stunning hill climb footage of a Norma M20 flat out. If you've ever recorded footage inside a quick car and been disappointed how slow it looks when played back...then watch this and just try to imagine how fast this would feel in real life!!! (Oh and I still don't know why it is labelled as an Audi R8?)

Yes, I've seen your Bernadini M3 clip before - it really is excellent. High concentration stuff. The E30 M3 kind of took over from the Escort RS as the ultimate N/A 2WD 'conventional' rally car in my humble book. Fast, agile and with a cracking soundtrack to match the BDA at high revs.

Another favourite clip of mine here - from the Group B era. They used to slide much more on tarmac back then too!

Love the 240RS Nissan too - in an underdog sort of way it still ticked a lot of boxes for the rally fan.
