Internet hard man alert!!!!

If you think you can deal with 4 blokes armed with machetes then fair play to you but I know who my money would be on...

I've seen the outcome numerous times and its not pretty.
Happy to take those odds. ;-)
Can you make sure the video of it is automatically uploaded to YouTube, please, and a link posted here? That way, we'll know why you stopped posting. Thanks.
Funny you should say that - I was recently considering whether I should keep a headband mounted GoPro beside the bed!!! How weird is that?
You think I could make money from the footage.....?
Yep, people love epic fail videos.
Boom, boom. Boom.

The average person has no experience of violence and has a family to think of and they know it. So best thing to do is let them have what they want.

As for dogs, I've met a couple that would've ripped you to pieces and only medium sized too, 8st ish. They are the small exception though.

Even most double hard bds are pretty useless when woken up at 4am when they're dragged out of bed with a crowbar waved in their face.

There's a crew going about at the minute using chainsaws to get through the door and threaten the occupants with.

TBF, if they're using chainsaws to get through the door, you're going to be awake quite a while before they get to the bedroom... And so are all the neighbours.

That's a comforting thought.

Had a security guy round today to do some work on the alarm and he gave us a great tip, it won't work for everyone but is so simple and inexpensive I thought it worth sharing;

Our house is an old cottage and has two rooms leading to the staircase, the only route upstairs from the ground floor.

Both doors are substantial solid oak and open towards the stairs. Simply install a thumbturn type lock on each door, think hotel door / bathroom type lock, that can only be opened from one side. When going to bed with the house alarmed simply turn the keys making the 1st floor very difficult to access,

Whilst this is not impenetrable it would take some time and significant effort to get through it, whilst the alarm is piercing their ears and I am calling the police.

Keep the car keys on the 1st floor just in case, and we sleep on the second.

We have listened to all of the tips and recommendations from the police, this thread, security experts etc. and have taken many on.We will be installing these locks within days at a cost of £20. Least cost of everything we have done but this makes us feel much safer.

Not really, I use one a few times a week executing warrants and its fast, just cut down the hinge side and boot it in and run up the stairs.

Its pretty rare we encounter anyone further than the end of their beds when we go in to an address.

I'd like to point out I only lawfully cut doors open after a magistrate is satisfied why we're doing it!

The thing about real life hard bds, is they can go from nothing to rabid psycho in seconds. So assuming they heard the break in, they'll be armed and ready.

I know that lots of people have house alarms, but how many have them configured to come on at night?

Ok, it wont stop people from trying, but it certainly makes a racket if they do open a door and/or start moving about one of the rooms.
100% this. Ours is zoned at night for downstairs - anyone comes in & the world and his dog know about it.

What is it with the pussies on here basking in smugness because they seem to think they have taken the moral high ground by leaving the keys to their cars downstairs and easily accessible to thieves?

You do not have the moral high ground! You are a pussy! You are a loser! You are a bunch of manginas! Are you the kids at school who were frequently relieved of your tuck-shop money and then went crying to mumsy? But have since learned nothing?

It is a tough world out there and once you are relieved of your car you will have neither self-respect nor the respect of your significant other because she will see that you are a gutless loser. You are not men!

If someone breaks into your house with the intention of relieving you of your car and you make it easy for them by leaving the keys easily accessible YOU ARE A FUD!

My keys are kept upstairs in my bedroom. Anyone breaking in will have to come into that room and I assure you they will not be leaving with their body parts intact. 1, 2, 3 of them - it doesn't matter they will be dealt with and swiftly despatched.
Their act of 'violence' in entering my home will be met 10 fold with violence they will not be able to comprehend!
I will not be 'relying on the insurance'. Are you people even serious?

FFS - the posts I'm reading on here make me despair for the men of this country. What a bunch of pussies many of you seem to be. And worse you are happy to proclaim it in a public forum?

If any of you remember the recent thread on here about the tv program about the SAS - do you think any of those SAS men 'leave their keys downstairs' because the 'car is covered by the insurance'?
NO - they do not!! Because they are men. You pussies on here bleating that you don't want to get involved are not men. You are LOSERS!
Jesus wept.

I do wonder what realistically happens in this scenario though.

Theif of part of gang comes up stairs, you smash the granny out of him, if you don't get hurt from the rest of the gang and they run away leaving you with him as Police come...then what?

1. Police arrest you for assault and he sues you?
2. Police arrest him for armed robbery, you are a hero, gang comes back next week not to nick anything but you put you in a coma / kill you for their friend and dented pride?
3. You go to prison, where they have friends, and you die in prison?

Where does it end?
A friend of my fathers, an ex copper once told me that if you ever needed to assault an intruder to use the line 'he was coming straight at me' when questioned by them. Takes it from aggravated to self defence.

Yeh, Tony Martin tried that one.

So did this fella in Bramhall, Cheshire. Stabbed and killed a burglar & CPS said no charges.

Wasn't the Tony Martin case considered to be a bit "pre-meditated" ?

Well, I don't think he posted on various internet forums about where to keep the weaponry and what excuse to use...

<sigh> Thank you for explaining for the benefit of those for whom I'd been too subtle.
