I'll place my bet now that what comes to market will be massively watered down in some crucial way, to avoid anyone getting too excited.

Other media outlets are claiming this car is just a test bed for technology that'll it may put into cars it will actually sell, i.e. there won't ever be one of these to buy. Whether they are correct or full of sh!t, who knows....?

That sounds more realistic.

Imagine the expense in training all their dealer sales staff to interact with potential buyers that actually care about performance! It'd be a nightmare.

It looks interesting but how much will people really pay for a small hyundai hatchback. At least initially it will depreciate like a brick too. Having said that I hope it makes production.
Not if its a limited mid engine rwd special it won't but lets see.
It will if it has a Hyundai badge on it, and probably a £40k price tag.

It will be an interesting failure.
What a nobbish thing to say, yes an interesting failure indeed.
Do you really think this will be a commercial success? Interesting car possibly, but it will sell in minute numbers.

Perhaps your comment says more about yourself than your realise.

Define commercial success.

This (if they build it) will get onto the front page of every car magazine across the world, that's before you start thinking about top gear, the stand your etc etc.

As a brand building exercise, I'd imagine it would cheaper than a season in WRC and gain more exposure.

If they do this well, I mean go for it carbon low weight handles well etc and it looks something like the rm16 I've seen pics of, then I think it can change opinions of the brand very very fast.

It does look absolutely amazing. One could dream, if a mainstream manufacturer would bring back a mid-engined car. Toyota seem to have completely given up!

I think it's superb that another manufacturer is hopefully bringing out cars like this- rwd, mid engined cars aren't particuarly common at the price point this will occupy.
This particular model doesn't need to make money to be a success, if it has an effect on brand awareness.
300hp is a more than enough, and the weight seems good too. Making it more powerful only has one effect, making it lighter makes it handle better, stop quicker, accelerate faster and be cheaper to run.

Looks very promising indeed, would certainly breath some life into the brand. Watching with interest.
