Mine smile

Apparently they're quite ugly due to it's rear cabin component and the swage lines... Although i beg to differ i'm biased.

Funny thread. Lots of downright and straight beautiful cars in the thread. I guess unconventional is ugly. No wonder all the cars look the same these days.

I had one of these when they first came out... mine was in metallic black with ivory/cream interior... I was 30, it felt like I had arrived..
It was at the time, I thought a beautiful car... but yes those headlights were a bit small (Xenons though)... the grill was a bit 'beaky'

Have you ever met an unconventionally beautiful woman? ..... it was a bit like that...an Uma Thurman car... the rear styling was a bit of a breakthrough... you can still see its dna in many cars today..
I still think it looks fresh

I was in Rome in the Spring... and some sort of Carabinieri convoy went past with two immaculate grey ones like this flanked by patrol cars..

You just described Every yank made upto about 1980 ish... I'd take most of those to. That olds is so long at the front as it's front wheel drive V8... Barmy
anorak fact of the day. The same era Buick Riviera was basically the same car but RWD. Jay Leno has a Toronado converted to RWD, which is obviously the first and obviously right thing to do.

Now that is fabulous. Just fabulous. Although if those Windscreen Wipers were permanently sat there like that I'd soon get a bit annoyed...

what about the "Wheeled Evil" car. SO ugly it goes around the back of the scale and pops back up into awesome.

the original black headlight motorshow concept TVR Project 12/7 (not the later Speed 12 cars - they were cool and even uglier, but they didnt come back round the scale... they were just ugly.

Oh yes... lovely and, at the same time, rather challenging in the looks department. It's probably my OCD, but I'm really not keen on that off-centre vent on the roof though.

The site of an Alfa 166 only got me thinking earlier that sometimes a car is so unconventional and ugly, that somehow it becomes beautiful at the same time, then I saw this thread. Ive got my heart set on a Lancia Monte Carlo. To the normal person quite ugly? But its so delicate and purposeful that to me its beautiful little car?

Not seen one of those before. I know I'm looking at a big box, designed by a schoolboy armed with nothing other than a 90 degree set square but it really does have some real beauty to it. I think its the typical 80's flared arches and fatter dish rear wheels getting me inspired.

Yep, that's in

Previous poster is right, utilitarian chic, vernacular design etc

I very nearly bought an Opel Combo version myself in the summer.
