i was only claiming for parts no labour thought i was doing him a favour rather than him having to do a 50 mile round trip and its the only car my familly have on the road so needed it for work next day
but on the bright side i have learnt by my mistake
the parts were charged at trade price bearing in mind it was supposed to have a full service history the plugs looked like they hadnt been changed in ages it was only bought last week
as for fabicating receipts it came from eurocarparts with the reg printed on it with debit receipt and computer fault printout
learnt by my mistake

Your ideal course of action - as others have said - is to get the dealer to sort this out. But that hasn't happened so what are the implications now.

I'm sure dealers are suspicious of punters in the same way as punters are suspicious of dealers.

If I was the dealer and had sent out a perfectly working car a week ago which "suddenly developed a misfire" which "your mate" had fixed and only wanted the price of the parts, then I'd be suspicious that you had a similar car that needed fixing and you were trying to get him to stump up the bill.

Also, now that you have admitted to someone else tampering with it, I would suggest this dealer may blame your friendly mechanic for anything else that goes wrong with it too. He may not legally be able to do so, but it might make it awkward for you in the future.
It's fingers crossed that nothing else goes wrong basically.
Hope you have years of trouble free motoring with it.

You could have just called them, explained the situation before you bought them and asked if they'd pay. Doing it after the event is always going to be more difficult.

Of course, equally, if they were just old and worn out then it is wear & tear anyway and any payment would have been goodwill.
