Then he fire power to back it up.
Fight taken to Audi and really way beyond BMW. Game on.
Way beyond BMW? new M5 will be simlar power and optional 4wd... with the new 550i xdrive doing 60 in 4.0 dead and onlu 450bhp ish am sure the new M5 will be low to mid 3's if that's your thing....C63 filthy

Id say come 2 years it will be a very tough choice to make..... (hopefully BMW will make the new m5 more vocal)
As it stands RS6 wins hands down for looks, M5 is the drivers choice and E63 somewhere in between

I don't know why I don't like it. Respect the numbers and technology though.
Strange things is the current C Class is to my eyes pretty ugly, but it was an ugliness that actually became good looking when stretched to E Class dimensions. I remember thinking, "The New E is going to look tremendous". Don't now why and I'll have to wait to see it in the flesh but to me that exterior and the Wallace and Grommit interior are an assault on the eyes.
Still my favourite brand but I don't actually like anything that they make right now, (CLS excepted).
Not quite sure I follow - this is the 'stretching' of the current C to the new E class as the C came before E in terms of current design language. Interior admittedly looks a little fussy but having sat in one (non AMG) it does feel rather nice. I'm sure the blue stripe can be de specced too.Strange things is the current C Class is to my eyes pretty ugly, but it was an ugliness that actually became good looking when stretched to E Class dimensions. With you on the CLS. That in Shooting Break form would still be my pick of the current MB range...

I think those are ambient lights, for which you can choose the colour. That blue does look a lot "in your face", but that picture looks so edited it's hard to make out the intensity tbh.
Wow! Those are impressive numbers!
I would like to say I don't really get the overly complicated process of engaging any mode remotely 'fun' in these cars. They should just have a button or switch underneath a red cover like what you get in fighter jets. Or two buttons in separate places under red covers just in case you 'accidentally' press one...

Sorry what I meant was that that general styling language for me, works in the E Class size and not the C. To the point where I don't like the C at all but strangely the same car but bigger I think is really nice. With you on the CLS. I thought that I was going to love the E63 when it landed.
As for the CLS, mine arrives next month....!!!
See this is why I like AMG over the M / RS options.
With the M cars, there's this incredibly dull pretense that it's a finely honed driving machine for the incredibly discerning driver that every golfer is where track times are so important and it's all about finesse and poise.
With RS cars, it's about all weather point and squirt stability and ensuring you can tailgate anything in any conditions at any speed with absolutely no effort whatsoever.
With AMG, it's about putting a glorious sounding V8 in it and bonfiring the rear tyres, because that's fun. There can be no justification whatsoever as to why this rear wheel drive mode exists, other than for smoke based amusement. Fantastic. Is Tobias Moers actually Australian?

Yes ///M cars are renowned to be dull, its virtually impossible to loose traction in the M5 too With the M cars, there's this incredibly dull pretense that it's a finely honed driving machine for the incredibly discerning driver that every golfer is where track times are so important and it's all about finesse and poise.

Id personally say the AMG will be the golfers choice out of the three but then thats just my opinion. I would have any and chose the M5 mainly due to its value (about 15k less than the others with discounts applied to all) but secondly as its such a good all round car (albeit it does sound dull inside the cabin )
Agree on the RS front though but it does look the coolest IMO
This now looks absolutely identical, in my eyes, to the new C Class. I really don't like the new C Class either, especially form the rear. It just looks very oval and really quite pathetic. The newest gen E Class definately had something about it that set it apart from the C.
Performance looks absolutely blistering though! Not arguing there at all. I just think the styling is all completely wrong.

More that the associated image (in my warped mind) is one of men in suits jostling for social position, taking the comparative levels of performance very seriously because, as discerning automotive athletes, they naturally squeeze the very best out of their performance machines at all times and so they require the most efficient, balanced and focused package available to them in order to meet their internally set KPIs.
Don't get me wrong, fancy Mercs are just as 'watches and golf' as the other German stuff, but with AMG there's just this thread of 'fun' (read: childishness) that I think sits well within the 'business' exterior and makes for a more appealing package.
It's a bit like what a Bentley used to be compared to a Rolls Royce if you see what I'm driving at?
