See this is why I like AMG over the M / RS options.

With the M cars, there's this incredibly dull pretense that it's a finely honed driving machine for the incredibly discerning driver that every golfer is where track times are so important and it's all about finesse and poise.
All born out of your extensive experience with them no doubt, what a load of rubbish....
We don't need to guess what you drive do we? biggrin

Once again BMW drivers, I wasn't talking about your precious cars, merely the marketing / brand image pretense that they trade on, and how I find that a little dull.

Your rentals are lovely.

I must admit as much as a lot of newer Mercs are a little chintzy I'm very much sold on this new E63.

I guess the whole AWD decision was to give the car the quite incredible 0-60 time and then the RWD setting is so that it can be considered an AMG in the old skool sense of the word. It's a shame they've called it 'drift mode' as it seems a term that the Barryboys seem to knock one out over. I didn't see the appeal in the Focus RS, a car I'm not keen on but it's performance is impressive so on a high end super barge it cheapens it a little.
I suspect it was done rather so that the product would compete directly with both the RS6 and the M5. Merc now has one car that offers it all: RWD dynamics and the traction and stability of AWD.

Personally, I find it a step too far (is the chassis really set up to maximize potential for both modes?), but I can see the logic from a marketing standpoint.

Rather a big difference. Like saying 1 second in the 100m isn't much.

...and if it's anything like my W222 it's not that bright in the real world - you cannot see the ambient lighting in daylight.

I'm sure (nearly) everyone realises the photo is enhanced. In daylight you can't tell what colour the ambience is even when it's on full.

Well obviously....but don't the S Class, CLS AMG options do all that already?
Why spend big money on the middle segment souped up saloon?

Nice car just a bit pointless given the rest of the AMG range seems to cover all the same bases.

I agree with the previous poster about the drift mode. I mean, really? Why call it that?
the E class rides extremely well and always has done, much better than the C and is noticeably more agile/easier to park than the S

So Merc have released a press photo intended to show something that's not actually real...?

I think its more of lazy photoshop and really should have the view outside the car at night time. As said the ambient lights wouldn't be very ambient if they were that bright in the day light?!

Nothing would surprise me about how deep they were willing to plumb the depths of tastelessness, tbh.

No, it's real, but it's very exaggerated.

Veyron is 2.5.

612bhp... Didn't feel that long ago the Murcielago came out sporting 570 odd bhp.
Can't imaging what 612bhp through the rear wheels does!

Debadged and in wagon please.
