I'd love a Lancia Delta Integrale at some point. I don't want the bills associated with a Lancia Delta Integrale frown

Don't turn it off when cold, keep on top of oil levels, and give it an old fashioned Italian tune up on the regular, it'll be alright smile

I keep hankering after a Bentley Arnage as a daily driver to replace my Range Rover. Similar mpg but even scarier bills!

Also wouldn't mind a Delorean, despite it being one of the world's gutless and average-handling sports cars

Everyone seems to say the 348 is a terrible Ferrari, but I still want one. Especially a GTC cool

If the engine is healthy, you don't need to treat an RX8 rotary much different than a normal performance engine. Keep the oil topped up, make sure it's warm before ragging it, and premix he fuel, not much else in it.

Both things do.

I was always worrying about the engine, but got rid of it for the stupid mpg and the £500 road tax.

Great drive, and a good buy as a weekend car if you confident to repair anything,

mine became difficult to start. Turned out to be coil packs, when replaced mpg rose from 14 to 22 (whoo hoo) but had me worrying so much I part ex'ed it.

I would love a 996 as a daily drive but the bad reputation they have for RMS, IMS and bore scoring means that I would pass unless there was a nice mint one that had all the issues resolved.

Different type of 'reputation' but I have a guilty yearning for big diesel pickups with straight through exhausts, the more black and chrome the better, would need to get limo tints all around though because it would be someone embarrassing to be seen in by people you know xD.
the rx8s are dirt cheap nowadays too. there was one for sale at the used car dealer opposite the end of my street for 2 grand a couple months back.
To be honest, I actually don't think that 20mpg is all that bad for the performance in a 4-seat, £2-3k car. I'm averaging 25ish in a E46 330ci, which is largely city miles with a few long trips thrown in for good measure - performance is pretty much on par. Your money buys you a much better condition and newer RX8 than 330ci, and it's marginally more practical to boot (although I'm consistently amazed by how big the BMW's boot is. They were on my radar as an occasional-use hack when I bought the BMW, but the auto is both a rarity and a poor match for the engine (I wanted an auto for town driving), otherwise I'd have had one in a heartbeat (compression test notwithstanding).

Not that it should be a problem for an enthusiast, but I'd suggest that the bolded bit is significantly different from almost every other performance engine. To be honest, if I was using one daily, the whole premixing thing would probably begin to get on my t*ts.

Massively overblown on the internet which sadly put's off many would be owners from experiencing a wonderful car.

Had mine for over 7yrs now, longest I've owned any car (by a big margin) in nearly 30yrs of car ownership.

Tbh I don't think premixing is really necessary, just the correct oil, or get the unit that allows the injected oil to be different from the engine oil, then some better quality oil can be used to look after the bearings, while injecting burnable oil to lubricate the chambers without leaving damaging deposits to gum up the sliding tip seals.

Also, it seems to benefit from using the full revs, keeps the chambers cleaner smile

I have loved from afar Lotus Europas but never had the balls to own one.

Same with Jensen Interceptors.

After 35 years of driving I feel that my motoring life will not be complete unless at some time I do own one of each.

This is my top 5 list of cars I want to own before I die:

Aston. I woned one, they can be crippling cost. I want another
Range Rover classic rust, unreliability etc
Lancia Fulvia Coupe: rust, unreliability
Lotus Esprit: no Rust! reliability, though..
Porsche 911: engine rebuilds, questionnable handling on early models, questionnable reliability on latter models.

Clio 197. Fantastic cars but well known for syncromesh problems and the timing belt costing a fortune to replace.

Bought a low miles one. Never thought of the belt needing done by age not miles. My local Renault Dealer relieved me of £888 for the belt, dephaser pulley and water pump (no good indies near me)

One month later, the synchro went in 3rd gear.

Sold at a significant loss frown

Get one then !

They are sooooo cheap that budgeting for a rebuild can easily be factored in.

But they drink like an alcoholic at a free bar
