It's curious that the UK only buys petrol estates that have more power than we need day to day, or too little power. The C63 is a great car for high speed use on Germany's perfect roads, but the power and handling won't be used in the real world UK. Maybe the C43 is a step in the right direction - giving Brits a car with all the toys that they can actually use for work, family, carting the bikes around etc.
You may be an old beigeist but I would certainly use all the power of the C63 every chance I could, I would never get bored of blipping the throttle at the lights just to hear that dirty dirty noise

You rant about American English and then, ironically, use an American English term yourself. "Jeez".
Hmmm, so 'Jeez' is now American as well? It's actually just short for 'Jesus', which is what I would have preferred to say, and I think that is pretty obvious. Well, there were actually plenty of other words I would have preferred to say, but being an atheist and being mired in the wonderfully politically correct world we live in, I didn't wish to offend so just held back from going the whole way with a possibly perceived 'blasphemous' term and stopped with the first syllable.

Unless you're going to tell me that Jesus is actually American too?

'Just as BMW builds 'Tourings' and not estates can we just agree that an equivalent Mercedes is a 'wagon'? This isn't needless Americanisation, just a question of context.'

No, we can't! Why are you not able to call it what it actually is - and incidentally, what Mercedes actually call it themselves on their own official website: a 'Mercedes-Benz C-Class Estate'??

How can it possibly be a 'question of context'? It is a 'Wagon' in America, it's an 'Estate' here: why is that so hard to grasp?

Jeez, you'll be calling for Trump to be OUR next Prime Minister next, with Taylor Swift as the Mayor of London!!! :/
Surely any Powerfully built, goatee'd, Hublot wearing PH Director type will refer to it as a 'Shooting Brake'?

I was a passenger in the latest C220d Estate in Copenhagen a few weeks ago; apart from the massive 180% vehicle duty there (yup, 180% on top of whatever the manufacturer decides the RRP is) the Merc was a pleasant enough place to be. I didn't find the ride too hard, and the floating screen thing in the middle of the dashboard worked brilliantly for sat nav etc. The gearchange stalk is a case of getting used to it (probably). I was pleasantly surprised, but not sure I'd take the plunge & actually buy one.

I can`t see this doing well in sales figures to be honest.

Surely if you want a fast C Class Estate only the C63 will suffice. If you don`t then I guess the far cheaper models will be the default choice.

I see more Audi RS6 cars than I do S6 cars for example...

I still want one though.

Not just now - it always has been. It originated in America around 1920-1925.

It's actually a euphemism.

You're just being facaetious; blasos was entirely correct stating the irony of your use of the word.

As for the car, I'd seriously consider a 'wagon' if I was a family man. Fortunately, for me, I'm not!

Interestingly the Volvo and Merc make identical power - 367bhp.
367 ps = 270 kW (and "only" 362 bhp)

Pretty much all engine outputs can be worked back to a nice round number in kW nowadays, or at least one that has taxation relevance in one or more jurisdictions.

Nope - few guys at work have ordered these - these fit in nicely with the Company Fuel Card policy of cars under three litres.

Seems good value compared to the C63, but expensive compared to the Golf R estate which is pretty similar in size, performance and traction. Probably the closet rival along with the S4 avant.

I would too, and that seems relatively cheap in the current market, even taking the mileage into account

It's actually spelt 'facetious', not 'facaetious'.

Interesting. I`d have thought that most company car policies were concerned with CO2 emissions as opposed to cc.

MB actually used to call them Touring as well. Anybody old enough to remember the W123 and W124 will attest to that. I'll pass on this though, far too ugly just like most of the current range.
God and the artificial engine sound. Awful.
You know what, until today - I never knew what the 'T' in 'TE' or 'TD' stood for (thank you Google for the exact translation!), as yes, I am very much old enough to remember the W123 series! Haha! Fair play and many thanks for mentioning that - I always liked the 'TE's' back in the day, so now I'm actually quite chuffed to know what the T stands for now (pretty sad, aren't I? Haha!) biggrin

How long ago did the Japanese stop putting the indicator stalk on the right?

And it's an estate not a wagon!
