This couldn't be a more appropriate thread! I just started replaying GT3 about a week ago.

I am 47 game days in with an mx5 as tuned as much as possible using N/A upgrades only, a crx for the FF championship and a mk 3 Mr2 for the roadster cup and MR cup. Yaris cup is up next.

It's funny though in my actual real world garage I have a Alfa 156 V6 and an MR2 G-limited, both of which are in the game with the exact spec and I can't afford them yet. I need more credits dammit!! (If it was 2001 I would be the coolest man on earth to teenager me)
smile I started playing through GT2 a few weeks ago, half way through and thinking of moving onto GT3 now... the turbo spool sounds on GT2 are much louder than I remember!

I've been fortunate enough in life to now own one of my favourite (thanks to Gran Turismo 3) cars of all time; Evo VI Tommi Mak edition.

My love of Jap motors also stems from the GT series.

I'm sure everyone remembers the above, must have done so many laps with that on repeat in an 800hp Evo.
Are you me??? Was it a red Evo VII? hehe

If there isn't any content on PH tomorrow it's because I'm too busy 'researching' Gran Turismo off the back of this!

Anyone else remember the specific cars in their garage, I had a lovely blue Supra TT that I used for absolutely ages, got weirdly attached to them.

Completely agree I still play GT now I tried Forza yes it has better sound but as a game I enjoy GT more, who can forget the first time they added a racing mod to their skyline.

I spent far too long playing this when I was young, and a huge amount of time perfecting my times on the 'ring.

Thinking about getting a PS4, is there a version of GT available for it?

Not yet it's delayed (no surprise there)

However Project Cars or Asseto Corsa are highly recommended.

I always felt that the original GT was when the PS1 came of age - I spent countless hours tuning up an Impreza WRC and doing the same easy championship again and again until I could afford better cars to go and win better championships.
After that GT2 was a noticeable graphics improvement, and wasn't it the case that cars won in GT1 could be imported?
GT4 on PS2 was awesome, but I wondered if this happened to anyone else - I got to about 60% and, on the original (large) PS2 it simply wouldn't go any further. I took the game back to the shop (60% hadn't taken very long) and the assistant implied that the game had been optimised for the later, smaller PS2-2.
So I bought one of course.
The DTM Mercedes 190E Evo2 around the Nurburgring was fantastic, and F1 around Monaco was great as well. Most of the original circuits were great and, as mentioned earlier, the Amalfi coast with a full-fat Group A Integrale guaranteed loads of credits...
Happy days (goes off to fire up PS2 and research when GT/PS4 will be available...)

I've had them all as well.
Original GT was my first game on the PS1 aged about 8.
Loved it.

The only TV I could attach my PS1 to was in the (unheated) room above the garage. I froze my b*****s off doing the endurance races in GT2 during winter time. Totally worth it.

Funnily enough I played it pretty thoroughly just last month (on an emulator) and the one thing I did manage to forget about the game that haunted my entire play through was..

..how hard it is to get an impreza 22B to show up in the used Subaru dealership! furious

Even worse when you remember/find out it only has 5 gears but at least you get to learn about gear ratios!

I can remember a few, but I had a Yellow Audi S4 that I had messed around with so much that it had become the perfect drifting machine (for my talent anyway).

Does anybody remember the model t ford you could win? Was in GT4 for completing everything and getting golds in all the licences I think. Embarrassed to say I won it and took a picture for proof somewhere as it was a lot of work. Used to do the 24hr races in a weekend if the missus went away, and got very sore eyes and drunk tonnes of coffee. Used to try and do everything in muscle cars especially the charger. Them were the days and I can't even pretend I was very young at the time smile.

I loved GT1 and GT2. Honourable mentions to TOCA Touring Cars and Colin McRae Rally. All excellent games.

Yep, I had GT1, GT2, GT4 (didn't get a PS2 that early), and then GT5. I can't remember the differences between 1 and 2 if I'm honest, but the earlier ones were the best. The level of detail and number of cars was astounding at the time.

I remember a lot of cars from my first highly tuned Mazda Demio to the ultimate Pikes Peak Suzuki Escudo. Soundtrack is generally always great too.

I didn't enjoy 5 so much - it looked great but was much harder with just a controller. You needed a wheel setup, which I couldn't justify. The B spec mode was a ridiculous waste of time too.

Ah Gran Turismo. Behind the Colin Mcrae games, these were some of my most played.

GT1 - Because I was quite young at the time I didn't quite 'get it' so I spent all my time in Arcade mode!
GT2 - Rented from Blockbuster a few times and borrowed a friends copy.
GT3 - Borrowed a friends copy.
GT4 - My favourite. It was HUGE. Got to about 99.7% completion and no further because some of the license tests were impossible (to me with a controller). Some good memories of making a 200mph Honda Jazz and thrashing friends round the Nurburgring, grinding on Costa Di Amalfi special event to sell the prize Toyota to save up money and the joy of buying a Volvo 240, upgrading it and using it as often as I could!
GT5 - Good but wasn't as good as GT4. Being able to play online was great, there was a very brief moment where I was top of the leaderboard for drifting the Ferrari F2007 round Daytona road course. B spec was terrible though, I should have been done as per GT4 and the 'standard' cars were only there to get the car count up and not add any value to the game.
GT6 - Didn't get because I didn't think my PS3 would handle it!

I have always loved GT, I can remember that GT2 was about the only game I bought at full price when it came out when I was a kid. Limited edition memory card and all.

I can remember being astonished by the graphics when 3 came out, and smashing it at uni.

I've really enjoyed playing it online, but I don't think there is a shuffle race option on line in 6 which I thought was a brilliant feature on 5 (it was on 5 I think).

I've always agonised over getting a proper chair, steering wheel and pedals, but never have. Trying to feather the throttle on a standard pad is bloody hard work with a powerful car.

I'm having my ACL done on Monday, and a month off work. So I know I'll be on there every day!

I also loved that Italian track where you raced through the narrow streets, cant remember its name now though...

That was Amalfi Coast, I remember it because if you had a car fast enough you'd hit a bump and get seriously airborne!
Cheers mate. I loved that track. Is it on any of the later instalments? I'm convinced that gt helped me as a driver, as a couple of times when a car has broken away, I've instinctively known what to do. No fuss, no drama and I've just corrected it. And I'm certainly no driving god! Lol
