Having played Forza I still find GT better gameplay wise, I couldn't give a fig for screenshots. Each to their own but I'm waiting for the new one (when hasn't a GT release be delayed rolleyes ) knowing them this GT Sport will be like a prologue.

I was at GameFest / Insomnia 58 in August, they had a stand there just for GT Sport, with I think 12 of those driving seat pods in the blue lit hoops set up with the game demo, there was a queue to play the demo all day. The game looked release ready, it was launching in November. A week later it was delayed until sometime in 2017. I have no idea why.
Implementation of VR mode. But after the latest news the VR mode will be gimped in a special VR mode and the full game will not be playable in VR.

Not sure why Microsoft can push out a new game every 2 years and the PS4 STILL doesn't have it's flagship racing game THREE years after the console was launched. Someone at Sony and PD needs a jolly good slap.

It's the reason why I bought an xbox one because Drive Club etc on the PS4 are just dreadful.

Still quite content to play the first 4 and forget 5 and 6 exist to be truthful.

The first one is probably still my all time favourite game and I've got so many memories of staying up all night as a kid playing it.

Not liking the look of GT Sport to be completely honest but seen as I've bought all the rest of them I'll probably buy it anyway, goddamned fanboy loyalty.

This thread has really made me want to play GT4 again, probably still my favourite racing game. Can still remember winning the German Touring Car championship over and over again because it had a good payout for finishing first.

I never graduated past a PS1, so I think that limited me to GT1 and 2.

Not that I was much good.

IIRC one of the "licences" you needed to drive an Alfa 155 V6 round a circuit at night.

I never got that nailed.

Perhaps I should dust off the old PS1.

I stayed at a friend's house the other week and they had the PS2 plugged in, and GT3:A-spec on the shelf. I fired it up, and found they only had an MX5 and had completed 2 beginner championships. I played through a few championships while there, and the pacing of the game is amazing. Forza 4 (The last Forza I had) fairly threw money at you compared to it, and lacked some of the complexity that GT3 offered (tyre compounds!). The pacing of the early GT games was excellent.

Forza games have been disappointing in general to me, as you say money and cars are thrown at you taking away the fun and expectations of driving the hard to reach cars.......they are on a plate in forza destroying the games staying power.
Also with relation to forzas playability all of my friends who are car guys have preferred the GT series categorically, this has to say something, whereas my other pals who have no deep interest in cars and Motorsports have preferred forza.
I'm a GT fan so I'm staying with that after tasting the other flavour.......and it leaving a slightly sour taste.
Keep enjoying what you like though eh.

Great thread timing, I just this week started replaying back through gt3, so far I've done all gold licenses bar b-8 which after 100 attempts or so has some how eluded me, frustrating but almost no game rewards like gt does when you get it right! One of my funniest memories of gt is doing the 200 lap endurance race on gt3 on the speed ring by using a ridiculously fast car, putting a book on the X button and just letting the car go round and hit off the side walls, I set it up going in the morning before school and when I got back i had completed the endurance race, haha happy days, for anyone interested you can play gt3 and 4 on the pc at 4K res as smooth as silk these days if you anything like a 1060gtx or above with adequately fast processor core clock speed; the pcsx2 emulator is great and these games are still so much more fun than any game made the last decade, shame they don't make them like they used to!

Scott.

Decided to dig out the PS3 and GT6 tonight. My god that game is such a disappointment in every way. Maybe I've been spoilt by Assetto Corsa/Pcars on PC with a G27 and seat etc. But GT6 is just as dull as dishwater, and the 'physics' are awful.

I immediately remembered why I stopped playing.

GT was the only reason I bought my Playstations.

I remember when I came to selling my PS1 and all the games, I must've been on GT3 or 4 at the time, I fired it up with GT2 in just to make sure it all worked. Intended just to play it for five minutes, 4-5 hours later I was still there hammering round. Sure the graphics were lumpy compared to what I'd got used to but the gameplay and physics were just so 'right', it was clear why it became such a success.

My work suffered and my boss intervened when me and my workmate got GT2 and played against each other every night for a few days, and I mean - the whole night!! The only sleep I got was on the train on the way in and in the corner of the canteen at lunchtimes. I think that's a fair sign of being an addict.

Not having that much time available to play these days I found that with the modern GT I wasn't able to just jump in for a quick race, every time I logged in either the playstation or the game itself would insist on carrying out a 2-3 hour update. Somehow it would always know if I had half an hour available and torment me with a 28.5 minute update.

I feel like re-buying GT4 now, flogged all my old games a while back figuring I wouldn't need any of them, but I did have a feeling that GT4 was one I shouldn't have got rid of.

GT4 was the last good one, I couldn't play it now as it just looks so old.

I got a PS4 a few weeks ago and I'm waiting for GT Sport. In the meantime I will have to pick up a need for speed that will keep my nicely busy.

GranTurismo is why I actually joined Pistonheads rather than just lurking. The GT5 online car trading thread and far too many hours meant I collected all the cars and many of the specials.

GT2 was my first play in a mates house and it got me. Eventually bought GT4 and spent a ridiculous amount of time in there and even bought 2 Logitech 960 degree wheels so that mates and I could do local split screen racing. My best memory of that was racing a mate around the 'ring, him in Evo me in a Scoob. After 43 minutes of racing I won by 3 thousandths of a second as he messed up the last corner - we were both completely knackered! I have GT5 and 6 and when a mate came over from Japan recently we dug out the wheels, put it on the projector and raced.

I'm into old Land Rovers so GT hasn't made a direct difference but there have been occasions where I feel that my GT experience of slides using the steering wheels has helped on very slippery sections. One time at a competition in mid Devon, I'd driven my 4.6V8 90 up the road from Cornwall on All-Terrain tyres. The site has a few areas with lots of clay and it was a very, very wet day. So most of the sections were done via too much power, little grip and 4-wheel drifting...

A couple of guys have mentioned smiles at seeing a real life Mazda Demio..I've actually sat in one!

Where I work there was a new starter in his 50's who is madly, madly into his motorbikes (has 7) but basically is the biggest beard in the world. Anyway not long after he started I asked if he drives a car, he says 'yes, but you definately won't have heard of it - I've got a little silver Mazda Demio for the occasions I need to use a car'

When I excitedly described it he looked at me as if I was daft and thought I'd totally lost the plot when I explained it was the first car in Gran Turismo and I wanted him to bring it in the next day!

But yes, Gran Turismo 1 and 3 really raised the driving sim game.. Always remember my dads friend coming round and showing off his new Integra DC2 which in his words was the best car hes ever driven. Cue me buying one and loving them since
